$2500 Weanling Wins at Flemington

The recent run of success for bargain priced Inglis weanlings continued when Mr Chard scored an upset win at Flemington today.

MR CHARD (2c Al Samer-Najar) was sold for just $2,500 out of the 2008 Inglis Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock sale. He had shown potential when 5th at Group 3 level last spring and relished the step up to 1400m.

His win at headquarters adds to a growing list of weanlings purchased for modest prices out of Inglis sales.

Last week at Eagle Farm, the Rob Heathcote trained Tabulate landed his first stakes success in the Listed Tails Stakes, making it four metropolitan wins in succession. He was a $12,000 buy out of the Newmarket sales ring.

Last month Yosei proved herself among the nation’s best two-year-olds when winning the Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes. The Invincible Spirit filly could have been purchased for just $15,000 out of the Inglis Great Southern Sale.

Octagonal’s daughter Warm Love ($9000) is another Great Southern Weanling Sale stakes winner this season.

Buyers are presented with two wonderful opportunities to secure an Inglis weanling in May and June.

The Great Southern Weanling Sale will be held at Oaklands on May 17 and 18.

The Inglis Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale will follow at Newmarket on June 24 and 25 and vendors have given great support, with a record 390 weanlings already nominated for the sale.

It is notable that Mr Chard is a son of first crop sire Al Samer and the First Season Sire showcase will again be a highlight of this year’s sale, with a number of outstandingly credentialed young stallions with progeny.

Vendors have until Monday to lodge late entries to this year’s sale. Entry forms can be downloaded HERE
