Another record points to Melbourne Premier

For the second time in a fortnight a long standing track record at Flemington has been lowered by a graduate of the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale. Two weeks ago it was Black Caviar over 1000m and today it was Loveyamadly over 1100m.

Loveyamadly ($60,000 2010 Premier, 4m Bel Esprit-Beauty World) just nosed out Avoid Lightning in the VRC Mrs Mac’s Beef Pie Sprint, stopping the clock at 62.15 seconds for the 1100m dash. The previous track record of 62.20 seconds was set by Don’t Tell Tom on 18 December 2004.

Today’s record effort follows that of fellow Melbourne Premier graduate Black Caviar which broke the 25 year old 1000m track record in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes on 16 February.

Both record breaking mares are by Bel Esprit, which has 22 yearlings set to be offered at the 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale that starts tomorrow, Sunday 3 March.

105 stallions are represented in this year’s Melbourne Premier catalogue, including strong drafts by a number of sires that recorded stakes winners around Australia today.

12 yearlings by red hot sire Not A Single Doubt will go under the hammer at Oaklands in the coming four days. The Arrowfield Stud based stallion is the sire of last week’s Group 1 Blue Diamond winner, as well as stakes winners in Melbourne and Adelaide today.

Lonhro also had a two state stakes double today, with black type winners at Flemington and Rosehill. Darley’s champion sire is represented by 7 yearlings in this week’s sale in Melbourne.

Pentire, the sire of the Group 1 Australian Guineas winner, has 6 yearlings to be sold at Premier.

Snitzel and Dane Shadow had stakes winners at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday. There are 10 yearlings by Snitzel to be sold at Oaklands, while Lot 580 is by Dane Shadow.

Day 1 of the 2013 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale gets underway at 2pm tomorrow. Lots 1 to 120 will be offered, with Inglis TV Live hosted by Caroline Searcy and Jason Richardson beginning at 1:45pm.
