Black Caviar runs for history in Saturday’s Newmarket and goes to the post as the World’s highest rated sprinter at the present time.

Her dam Helsinge (Desert Sun) was purchased out of the 2005 sale for $115,000 when offered by Aquanita Racing. Black Caviar was her first foal and realised $210,000 as a yearling at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

At the same 2005 sale, So You Think’s dam Triassic (Tights) also went under the hammer. She sold for $16,000 before being exported back to New Zealand where she produced the dual Cox Plate winner and now Northern Hemisphere based champion.

The dams of Shocking (Maria Di Castiglia, by Danehill, sold for $10,000 in 2003) and Viewed (Lovers Knot, by Khozaam, sold for $36,000 in 2000) were also purchased out of the sale before producing their respective Melbourne Cup winners.

Inglis has a proud history of selling top class mares across all its sales. Danleigh’s Chipping Norton Stakes win on Saturday was the latest reminder, with his dam Graceful Lily a $1300 purchase out of the Newmarket ring.

A total of 600 mares have been nominated for 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale.

It includes some outstanding racemares and proven broodmares, with all of the top stallions represented among the covering sires.

Oceanfast, the dam of Alinghi, has been a consistent star at Easter over the past six years, is being offered in foal to Fastnet Rock.

Whobegotyou’s dam Temple Of Peace (by Carnegie) is also being offered in foal to Fastnet Rock.

Patronyme was one of Sydney’s most consistent mares in recent seasons and she is also catalogued in foal to Coolmore’s red hot Lightning Stakes and Oakleigh Plate winner. Giant’s Causeway’s G3 winner Awesome Planet and Sydney Cup runner-up Divine Rebel are also being sold in foal to Fastnet Rock.

New Zealand Oaks winner Boundless is being sold in foal to Pins, while More Than Ready’s multiple stakes winning daughter Ready To Lift has a positive covering to High Chaparral.

Redoute’s Choice’s Group 1 Toorak Handicap winner Allez Wonder (pictured) heads a classy list of mares yet to go to stud, with others including last season’s G2 winning juvenile Willow Creek, fellow two-year-old stakes winner Sweet Cheeks, Floramour and Hurtle Myrtle.

Group 1 placed mare Banc De Fortune is being offered in foal to Redoute’s Choice, while fellow multiple Champion Stallion Encosta De Lago is the covering sire for VRC St Leger winner Inkster.

Lonhro notched another stakes double at the weekend and he is the covering sire of the Group 3 winning, Group 1 placed Absolutelyfabulous.

The general session on Day Three contains mares in-foal to successful stallions such as High Chaparral, Not A Single Doubt, Dane Shadow and a host of first season sires including I Am Invincible, Time Thief, Krupt and Von Costa de Hero.
