Easter Siblings for Dynamic Flemington Double Act

Freakish mare Black Caviar and Melbourne Cup hero Shocking headlined a lengthy list of pedigree updates for next month’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling with their spectacular Flemington Group 1 double today.

SHOCKING (5h Street Cry-Maria Di Castiglia) continued his love affair with Flemington and took his earnings to the brink of $5million when sustaining a powerful burst to win the Group 1 Australian Cup.

The son of Street Cry has won five times from eight outings at headquarters.

Widden Stud will offer a three-quarter-brother to Shocking as LOT 341 at Easter. The colt is by Street Cry’s Kentucky Derby winning son Street Sense.

BLACK CAVIAR (4m Bel Esprit-Helsinge) won her 3rd G1 race and made it a perfect 10 from 10 when leaving commentators stumped for superlatives with her Newmarket Handicap win.

The Peter Moody trained mare now goes into the record books as the greatest weight carrying mare in Newmarket history.

Makybe, as agent for Gilgai Farm, will offer a Casino Prince half-brother to the World’s Champion Sprinter as LOT 277 at Easter. Breeder Rick Jamieson was quoted in the Melbourne press this week in describing the colt as “a cracker.”

The 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale will be held at Newmaret from April 5-7.

In other Easter updates today:

PANIPIQUE (3f Testa Rossa-Our Quivira) notched her second stakes win when taking the Listed MSS Security Stakes (1100m) at Flemington. Turangga Farm will offer a Nadeem half-sister as LOT 390 at Easter. Our Quivira won six races up to Group 3 level and is the dam of two winners from as many to race.

RUNNING TALL (Stratum Fleeting Touch) gave Danny O’Brien successive wins in the Group 2 VRC Sires Produce Stakes. Widden Stud will offer a More Than Ready half-sister as LOT 242 at Easter. Fleeting Touch (Touch Gold) is a half-sister to Champion US 2YO Midshipman and Running Tall is her lone runner to race.

WARPATH (Reset-Only Vanda) became a black type winner when taking the Aspiration Stakes (LR). Willow Park Stud will offer a Charge Forward half-brother as LOT 385 at Easter. Only Vanda is a daughter of Linamix from the family of Fappiano, Ogygian and Honour And Glory.

LIGHT BRIGADE (Redoute’s Choice-Winning Belle) put himself in the picture for the Rosehill Guineas and Australian Derby when a close up third in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas. Willow Park Stud will offer a full-brother to Light Brigade as LOT 120 at Easter. Winning Belle (Zabeel) was a Group 2 winner who was runner-up on this day to Makybe Diva in the 2005 Australian Cup. She was also G1 placed in the Chipping Norton Stakes and Queensland Oaks.
