Egg-celerates to G1 Oaks Victory

Egg Tart (Sebring x Mrs Windsor) led an Inglis graduate quinella beating favourite Kenedna in today’s Group 1 Australasian Oaks, giving owners Anton and Ollie Koolman a huge thrill.

The daughter of Sebring made it 5 wins from 7 starts with today being her first attempt at Stakes level. She came from an awkward spot to weave through the field and win in the last strides.

Bought from the draft of Jorson Farm at the 2015 Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Egg Tart is out of King’s Best mare Mrs Windsor and was bred by Julie Brown in Queensland.

Trained by Chris Waller, the stable have held a high opinion of her with part owner Ollie Koolman revealing today that three weeks ago before she won at Flemington Kerrin McEvoy had committed to riding her today and she also had a flight booked to Queensland for the Oaks in June.

After the win, Koolman commented “Although she was not an expensive Easter purchase she went into Australia’s biggest stable and was treated the same as every other horse, this victory is all credit to Chris and his team”.

“She is a tiny filly and you wouldn’t fall in love with her to look at yet once you get to know her you would learn her great qualities. They have done an outstanding job and turned her into a Group 1 filly.”

“Obviously the horse will come first but all being well we would like to push on, to Queensland but ultimately it will be entirely the stables decision.”

“This is such a great thrill for us all because Dad is recovering from a New Year’s Day accident with a  horse and having only just released from hospital last week it makes it all the more special.”

Mrs Windsor has a yearling colt which was bought by Craig Rounsefell of Boomer Bloodstock at 2017 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.
