Excelamour accelerates in 2YO Inglis Challenge

Trainer Kris Lees already has his sights on next year’s 3YO Inglis Guineas with Excelamour following the filly’s barnstorming win in today’s $100,000 2YO Inglis Challenge at Scone.

Excelamour (Excelebration x Explosive Love) came from well back in the field to win the feature race at just her third race start.

Excelamour was a $26,000 purchase for Australian Bloodstock from Edinglassie’s draft at last year’s Inglis Scone Yearling Sale and Lees believes she will win many more races for her connections.

“I was pretty confident today, I thought she’d run well because she’s got plenty of ability,’’ Lees said.

“The prizemoney involved in the Inglis Race Series is so good that we could definitely just look to some of those races with her, and eventually find ourselves back here this weekend next year in the $400,000 Inglis 3YO Guineas.’’

Lees received a pair of Swarovski binoculars for the win, as every trainer of a winning horse in the Inglis Race Series does.

The 2017 HTBA Scone Yearling Sale and Scone Weanling and Thoroughbred Sale runs for two days, this coming Sunday and Monday, May 14-15 at White Park.
