Great Southern Sale Starts Tomorrow

Supplementary entries are now online and horses are being inspected ahead of the start of the four day Inglis Great Southern Sale in Melbourne tomorrow.

The Victorian thoroughbred Industry has enjoyed a stellar run over the past twelve months with world class sprinters Black Caviar, Starspangledbanner, Sacred Kingdom and Ultra Fantasy all ambassadors for Victoria’s breeding industry and Inglis sales.

Click HERE to view the Online Bloodstock Catalogue which will be staged on May 19 & 20. With supplementary entries this section of the sale now includes 320 broodmares, followed by 145 mixed stock, comprising stallions, yearlings, unbroken stock and racehorses.

Leading Victorian & South Australian nurseries Eliza Park, Erinvale Thoroughbreds, Lindsay Park Stud, Supreme Thoroughbreds, Three Bridges Thoroughbreds, Woodside Park Stud & Yarran are all well represented with over 15 weanlings each to be sold over the coming days.

Champion racehorses with their first foals at the sales include Sebring, Henrythenavigator, Duke Of Marmalade, Authorized, Teofilo, New Approach and War Pass.

The Supplementary weanling entries also include progeny of stallions like Magnus, Holy Roman Emperor and Statue Of Liberty, along with Barely A Moment including a colt from Group 1 winner Silky Oak.

“Interest has been strong, especially in the weanlings, ahead of the sale this week” Inglis Melbourne Director Peter Heagney said.

“This sale has proven itself as a great buying ground for pin-hookers who have on sold at various sales across Australasia”.

Star graduates of the Great Southern Weanling Sale include G1 AJC Sires Produce winner Yosei, Group winner That’s Not It, plus summer discovery Warm Love, who notched up a Group 1 placing behind Black Caviar in the Lightning Stakes after winning at Listed level prior. All could have been secured for a combined $50,000.

Furthermore both Tabulate and Jeuneyman, winners of in excess of $300,000 were also bargain purchases having been secured for less than $15,000 each.

The entire catalogue now numbers 860, with selling to begin at 10:30am starting tomorrow, Wednesday May 17.

The broodmare section contains mares in foal to or with foals at foot by Not A Single Doubt, Bel Esprit, Statue Of Liberty, Starcraft, Written Tycoon, Wanted, Bianconi and Choisir.

The sale will be broadcast on Inglis Sale Day live, with Online Bidding and Make an Offer available for those buyers unable to make it to Melbourne this week.
