Important Updates Ahead of Next Week’s Classic

Yearlings have arrived for next week’s Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale, with a number of important updates continuing to roll in since the catalogue went to press.

The 2011 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale begins this Sunday, January 23 and runs through Monday and Tuesday.

Karuta Queen is now nominal Golden Slipper favourite after her smashing win on the Gold Coast last Saturday, taking her unbeaten tally to four.

Lot 122 at Classic is a filly by Artie Schiller from Our Teneriffe, who is an unraced half-sister to Karuta Queen’s stakes winning dam Card Queen. Our Teneriffe is also the dam of three winners from as many to race.

Karuta Queen’s sire Not A Single Doubt is represented by 17 yearlings in this year’s Classic Catalogue, while the filly’s breeder, Stuart Ramsey’s Turangga Farm, have a draft of 19 horses heading to this year’s sale.

Turangga’s young stallion Zizou, the Golden Slipper runner-up, is the most represented first crop sire at Classic with 14.

Other recent pedigree updates include Lot 230, a Holy Roman Emperor filly from She’s Alluring, making her a three-quarter-sister to this month’s Randwick juvenile winner Fast And Sexy, a filly tipped by Glynn Schofield to make into a top class three-year-old as she steps up in journey.

Lot 508 is a Hussonet colt from Familial, who is a half-sister to Generosa, the dam of Group 1 placed Group winner No Evidence Needed and Patinack Farm’s impressive Flemington winner from last Saturday, Helping Hand.

The Perth carnival unearthed Playing God as that state’s next potential superstar, as he defied older horses to land the Group 1 Kingston Town Stakes. Lot 221 is a colt by Strada from Seal Point, a half-sister to Playing God’s dam Dolly Will Do.

Rocket Man was again named in the World’s Top five sprinters with the release of last week’s World Rankings after a Group 2 win in Hong Kong and second placing in the G1 Hong Kong International Sprint. Lot 294 is a Royal Academy colt from Tongsai Bay, a half-sister to Rocket Man.
