Inglis Graduates Line up for Epsom

Drumbeats gave trainer Peter Snowden cause to seriously think about starting in next week’s Epsom when proving far too classy for a strong field in today’s Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) at Randwick.

DRUMBEATS ($350,000 2007 Easter, 5h Redoute’s Choice-Delicate Choice) has only been lightly raced, but Snowden’s prediction that the entire’s best racing is still ahead of him proved spot on today.

A stakes winner at both three and four years of age, Drumbeats was fifth in last year’s Epsom and fourth in the Doncaster Mile earlier in the year, but he looks a superior galloper this preparation as he approaches another big Randwick mile. Snowden originally felt Drumbeats would be saved for the Toorak Handicap, but the dominance of today's win means he will seriously think about the Epsom.

Offered for sale by Vinery Stud and secured by Woodlands, Drumbeats is a grandson of the VRC Oaks winner Arborea.

Sheikh Mohammed’s representative now joins a powerful list of Inglis graduates in the market for next week’s Group 1 Epsom. Drumbeats is among the top three in betting alongside fellow Easter graduate Rothesay and Easter II star Neeson.

Earlier, the pedigree that has served the Gall family so well over many years struck again at Randwick when M’Lady Pedrille took out the Listed Reginald Allen Quality.

M’LADY PEDRILLE (P$52,500 2009 Classic, 3f Al Maher-Damzelle Pedrille) joined her half-sister Madame Pedrille (Secret Savings) as a stakes winner when staving off the challenge of Gooree’s Zutara to win the Listed 1400m event.

Like her multiple stakes winning sibling, M’Lady Pedrille was passed in as a yearling, falling short of her $55,000 reserve and she was retained to race by Ray and Brett Gall in partnership with the Hansberry family.

She becomes the sixth stakes winner for Emirates Park stallion Al Maher and gives trainer Ron Quinton a fourth win in this race.

Her dam Damzelle Pedrille is a winning full-sister to the Galls grand campaigner Mamzelle Pedrille, a winner of 11 races up to Group 2 level.

At stud, Mamzelle Pedrille produced the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes winner O’Lonhro for the family, while I Am Invincible is another relation that carried the same colours to Group 3 success and a Group 1 placing in the SAJC Goodwood.
