Interactive Easter Preview Magazine Available

The interactive Preview Magazine for the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale is now available online at www.inglis.com.au

2014 will mark 148 years since Inglis was established and 108 years since the company commenced its bloodstock operation at the then leased ‘Newmarket’ sales complex at Randwick. In 1917 the family run business purchased Newmarket and held the first Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Next year’s Easter Yearling Sale will be held on 8, 9 & 10 April 2014, between Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill and Day One of the highly anticipated ‘The Championships’ at Royal Randwick.

“What has become a great hallmark of Easter has been the first class quality in the middle-market. Not only is Easter producing top priced gems like All Too Hard, Foxwedge and Samantha Miss, but outstanding quality in the $150,000 to $300,000 range such as Shamus Award, Atlante, Samaready, Better Life and Mosheen,” points out Jonathan D’Arcy, Inglis’ Bloodstock Director.

Athleticism and scope are some of the attributes Inglis’ experienced bloodstock team look for when out in the field inspecting the Easter fillies and colts. 623 of Australasia’s finest bred and conformed yearlings are previewed in the latest Easter magazine – all carefully selected to continue the sale’s unrivalled results on the racetrack.

Inglis graduates have dominated the Australian classics in the last ten years, claiming 58 Group 1 races for three-year-olds including many Derbies, Guineas and Oaks. Easter colts Shamus Award and All Too Hard have even shown up Australasia’s older gallopers at weight-for-age level this year.

“Easter yearlings make up just 8% of the total yearlings offered at auction in Australia and New Zealand each year, yet graduates of Easter have won 27% of all Australian Group 1 races for three-year-olds in the last ten years that were won by a horse offered at auction,” said Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster.

The 2014 Easter Preview Magazine kicks-off with articles on the Qatari influence on European racing, history of a good yearling judge, the industry’s great support of charities and Betty Lane’s tough and testing racing life.

Possibly the next Shamus Award, All Too Hard, Exceed And Excel, Fastnet Rock, Might And Power, Miss Finland, Samantha Miss, Mosheen or Samaready – All Easter graduates – can then be found in the pedigree section.

All of Australia’s leading sires and many top stallions from the Northern Hemisphere are set to be represented at the 2014 Easter Sale including Fastnet Rock, Exceed And Excel, Lonhro, High Chaparral, Galileo, Medaglia D’Oro, More Than Ready, New Approach, Redoute’s Choice, Street Cry and Zabeel.

182 stakes winning mares, 38 of those successful at Group 1 level, have progeny featuring in the preview magazine including Typhoon Tracey, Faint Perfume, Jolie’s Shinju, Makybe Diva, Gold Edition, Absolute Glam and Alverta.

Sisters to Black Caviar, Makybe Diva and Zoustar are amongst the 41 siblings to Group 1 winners highlighted in the magazine. Others champion siblings include So You Think, Starspangledbanner, Overreach, Igugu, Sepoy and Jimmy Choux. In all there are 160 siblings to stakes winners amongst the total 623 yearlings previewed in the international quality catalogue.

“The previous strength of the Aussie dollar from late 2010 to May this year allowed Australian breeders to strengthen their broodmare bands from overseas and we are seeing a tremendous on flow into the Easter catalogue with more than 100 quality imported dams with progeny selected for next year’s sale,” adds D’Arcy.

Like every crop of Easter Yearlings since 1917 this generation of potential superstars are still roaming around in paddocks on stud properties. Growing, maturing and getting the natural benefits of the spring and summer sun on their back that develops them into the quality racehorses that Easter buyers cheer home to Group victories at a greater frequency then any rival sale in the region.
