Macau Group 1 winner a good pointer for Scone

Viscount gelding Happy Gladiator built on his outstanding record when taking the Macau Group 1 Chairman's Challenge Cup overnight in a great pointer for next month's Scone Yearling Sale.

The catalogue for the 2011 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale, to be held on May 12 and 15, is now online.

HAPPY GLADIATOR ($57,500 2008 Scone, 4g Viscount-Church On Sunday) has now won 10 of his 16 starts for earnings equivalent to $A448,733.

This year's Scone sale comprises 392 lots to be sold over the two days. Session 1 (Lots 1-208) is held on Thursday May 12, prior to the big two-day Scone Cup and Inglis Guineas carnival, followed by Session 2 (Lots 209-392) on Sunday May 15.

"Once again the sale has received excellent support from vendors and we are thrilled to offer a quality catalogue over the two days," Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D'Arcy said.

Stallions represented include proven sires (with 3 or more entries): Dane Shadow (10), Charge Forward (7), Al Maher (6), Danzero (6), Magic Albert (6), Hussonet (5), Not A Single Doubt (5), Snitzel (5), Choisir (4), General Nediym (3), Mossman (3) and Stratum (3).

The catalogue also boasts sizeable drafts from young sires , headed by Snippetson - sire of this month's Group 2 Tulloch Stakes winner Fast Clip - with 23. Valixir (15), Wonderful World (13), Oratorio (IRE)(12), Benicio (9), Dubleo (9), Lion Heart (9) and Shaft (9) also have good drafts heading to Scone.

Buyers should note that 87% of the yearlings on offer are BOBS eligible.

"This sale continues to produce top quality racehorses, year in year out," D'Arcy said. "Hot Danish has obviously been a wonderful flagbearer, but the likes of Group 1 winner Small Minds, hardy sprinter Welkom Gold and last year's dominant Inglis Guineas winner Star Of Octagonal also highlight what astute buyers can unearth at this sale."
