In keeping with the growing stature of Premier, the catalogue includes 78 yearlings that are from stakes winning dams, including seven Group 1 winners.

Additionally, there are 74 youngsters that are either half, three quarter or full relations to stakes winners, including 10 Group 1 winners – Turffontein, Tawqeet, Reactive, Nothin’ Leica Dane, Lashed, Arapaho Miss, Notoire, Mission Critical, Miss Danehill and Rinky Dink.

The half-brother to Caulfield Cup winner Tawqeet brings added interest to the sale, as he is a son of Japanese legend Deep Impact (Sunday Silence).

Premier was in the spotlight only a few days ago, with 2005 graduate Sacred Kingdom (Encosta De Lago) reclaiming his status as the World’s premier short course performer when winning the G1 Hong Kong Sprint for the second time.

In Australia, Premier graduates are off to another flyer in 2009-10, claiming 16 stakes races already this season, highlighted by G1 Caulfield Guineas hero Starspangledbanner (pictured) and G1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes winner Turffontein.

This follows 35 stakes races falling the way of Premier graduates last season, with the Group 1 winners being Weekend Hussler, Reward For Effort and Littorio. In South Africa, Le Drakkar was a Group 1 winning graduate.

Other recent Premier headliners include the star unbeaten filly Black Caviar, Group winning G1 placed performers Ortensia, Bank Robber and Carrara and Group race winners Shamoline Warrior, Rostova, Chinchilla Rose, Belong To Many and highly promising Listed winners Battlefield and Viking Legend.

Tony Santic’s Makybe was the leading vendor by average at the 2009 sale and will again offer an outstanding draft of 31 yearlings, including progeny of Encosta De Lago, Anabaa, Lonhro, Danzero and Rock Of Gibraltar.

Eliza Park was the leading vendor numerically this year and they again have a large draft of 51 heading to 2010 Premier.

Yallambee Stud have 37 youngsters for sale, including a good number by exciting young Caulfield Guineas winner God’s Own.

It didn’t seem that long ago that Blue Gum Farm were launching the career of Encosta De Lago and in 2010 Philip Campbell and the team will launch their new stallion Churchill Downs, who is well represented among the farm’s 22-strong draft.
