Mixed sale a success as focus moves to Easter

Today’s March Thoroughbred Sale at Oaklands Junction was the final Inglis auction before a big fortnight in Sydney takes centre stage in late March/early April as the curtain falls on Newmarket.

The March Mixed Sale proved a success yet again, with a healthy clearance rate of over 91% for the 156 horses offered.

On a superb Melbourne autumn day, buyer competition was strong both in-house and online, with Yu Long Investments a clear leading buyer, purchasing 17 Lots.

The sale grossed $1,254,350 with an average price of $8833.

Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian said the competition throughout the day kept the Oaklands sale ring busy with bidding.

“As always, I would like to thank both the vendors and the purchasers for their support of the sale,’’ Vivian said.

“It was a pleasing and enjoyable sale.’’

Attention now switches to Sydney for a farewell fortnight before the Sydney arm of the business moves to Riverside Stables at Warwick Farm.

The inaugural The Chairman’s Sale Session 1 (Elite Racing Prospects) kick-starts proceedings on Thursday March 30 at 6pm, where individual horses or shares in a select group of thoroughbreds competing in Group races at the present time will be offered.

Included in the catalogue already are stakes performed 2YO Eden Roc and Sydney Cup contender Chance To Dance, 25% of Group 3-winning 3YO Man From Uncle and 30% of Stakes-placed 3YO Land Of Plenty.

Entries for this sale close Monday March 27.

Then it’s the crème de la crème of the Australasian sales season, the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

A total of 480 Lots have been catalogued for the sale, which will run for three days (April 4-6).

Following the Easter Yearling Sale, the Chairman’s Sale Session II (Elite Breeding Prospects) takes place on Friday April 7 from 5pm.

A total of 89 Lots have been catalogued for the sale including Group 1 winners, broodmares in foal to the likes of Frankel, Snitzel and I Am Invincible, highly-credentialed weanlings, race fillies and stallion shares.
