Plan Your Inglis Race Series Fortune

Although spring racing is all but over, there are a multitude of chances for trainers and connections to share in the $5 million Inglis Race Series this summer, with $1.6 million on offer across five outstanding events to be held between now and the start of the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale in February.

Three contests for two-year-olds nominated to the Inglis Race Series, and two for three-year-olds, will be held in New South Wales and Victoria, starting with the $500,000 2YO RL Inglis Nursery (1000m) and the $250,000 3YO Inglis Sprint (1100m) at Royal Randwick on Villiers Day 12 December 2015.

Connections to the Inglis Nursery winner will not only share in $500,000 standard prize money, but an additional $100,000 in bonuses; $50,000 to the vendor named in the 2015 Inglis Yearling Sale catalogue of the winning horse, and $50,000 to the supplier (as named on the yearling sale entry form). If these names are the same, that party will receive the full $100,000 bonus.

Also at Randwick on Saturday 12 December 2015 will be the inaugural running of the $250,000 Inglis Sprint (1100m). The Inglis Sprint will be a chance for Race Series-nominated three-year-olds to earn great prizemoney prior to Christmas and fills the void of top 3YO sprints in New South Wales between the Listed ATC Brian Crowley Stakes (mid-October) and Group 3 ATC Eskimo Prince (early-February) each season.

Nominations for the 2YO Inglis Nursery and 3YO Inglis Sprint close 11:00am on Monday 7 December 2015 with Racing Australia.

A Victorian addition to the Inglis Race Series for three-year-olds is the $250,000 Inglis Dash (1100m), which has been confirmed down the straight at Flemington on 16 January 2016. The Inglis Dash will provide a valuable opportunity in Melbourne for horses peaking during the summer, or a starting point for horses heading towards autumn targets.

Before the opening evening session of the 2016 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale on Saturday 6 February, two-year-olds in both New South Wales and Victoria are able to contest their sale specific races, with the $250,000 RL Inglis Classic (1200m) at Randwick and the $250,000 RL Inglis Premier (1200m) at Caulfield.

As with every Inglis Select Race, a pair of $3,000 Swarovski Optik EL 42 Swarovision binoculars is provided to the winning trainer of each of these five upcoming races. A win in the series also means Antler luggage for winning connections, jockey and trainer, and one step closer to the $50,000 Trainers bonus, paid to the trainer with the most wins in each series.

Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Darren Weir is already one up on the competition, having won the first event for 2015 Inglis Yearling Sale graduates, the $250,000 RL Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day last month with exciting colt Dalradian.
