Slipper Chance Dominates Classic

Chance Bye confirmed her status as Australian racing’s latest great bargain when streeting her rivals in today’s $250,000 Inglis Classic at Rosehill.

CHANCE BYE ($15,000 2009 Classic, 2f Snitzel-Rouge Femme) has been a fairytale for trainer Michael Tubman and the story is only just beginning with the Kembla Grange trainer now lining up a tilt at the Golden Slipper.

Under Kathy O’Hara, Chance Bye produced a replica of her debut win, showing early speed and then accelerating away from her rivals to win by a big margin.

Some had reservations about the filly’s ability to run 1200m, but Tubman’s confidence was justified as she made a one-act affair of the feature. Ilovethiscity ($40,000) recouped his purchase price with his second placing, with Spot The Rock ($57,500) filling third place.

Chance Bye was bred by Torryburn Stud, who sold her for $11,000 as part of the First Season Sire Showcase at the 2008 Inglis Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale. Torryburn has a draft of five yearlings for this year’s Classic Sale.

Tubman secured her out of the Glenlee draft at last year’s sale and Chance Bye has now racked up $340,000 in earnings, having won the inaugural $250,000 Inglis Nursery at her only other start.

Chance Bye is from a half-sister to dual stakes winner High Rolling from the family of Group 1 Canterbury Guineas winner Jymcarew, himself a $50,000 Inglis Classic graduate.

Chance Bye’s sire Snitzel continues to lead Australia’s First Season Sire list. He has three yearlings heading to Classic.

The 2010 Inglis Classic Sale begins at 11am tomorrow.

Online bidding and Make an offer services will be available for those buyers unable to attend.
