Stakes Next for Street Boss Filly

Breednet - Mark Smith - Saturday, 1 August 2015

Darley stallion Street Boss (USA) has quietly built up a solid reputation in Australia and he looks to have another good one in the Ciaron Maher-trained filly Petits Filous who kept her record at a perfect two for two in Saturday’s United Refrigeration Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley.

Sent off an odds-on favourite following her debut win over the same track and distance back on July 15, Petits Filous ran out an untroubled two lengths winner under Damien Oliver.

Stream Ahead (Dane Shadow) finished second with Grisbi's Run (Savoire Vivre) two and a quarter lengths away in third.

Maher said the Group III Quezette Stakes at Caulfield in a fortnight is likely to be the brown filly’s next start.

"She came back there and she looked like she got off the bit a little bit there on the turn. She might be able to be a bit versatile and stretch out a bit in the future,” Maher said.

"I’m not sure how deep she’ll go in the spring.

"We’ll just take her along. It’s her first prep and she’s going well so it’s a balancing act.

"She's showing good ability now but you want to keep developing them."

Bred by Emirates Park, Petits Filous was consigned to the 2014 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale where she made $65,000 to the bid of her trainer.

She is the second foal of the Exceed And Excel mare Excellent Lady a half-sister to Group 1 Mackinnon Stakes winner La Bella Dama (Desert Sun) the dam of Group II winner La Rocket (Rock Of Gibraltar) and the stakes-placed Macau Causeway (Giant’s Causeway) and Voile Rouge (Encosta de Lago).

Excellent Lady has a 2yo colt by Dream Ahead (USA) and was covered by Artie Schiller (USA) last season.
