Stakes winners flowing for leading Easter sires

Leading sires with big representations in the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale catalogue featured prominently with stakes winners in Australia on Saturday, including those of winning Inglis yearling sale graduates Aliyana Tilde and Budriguez.

Aliyana Tilde ($50,000 2010 Premier, 4m Snitzel-Patronella) appreciated the step up in distance to 1900m at Rosehill in Sydney to edge out fellow Inglis graduate Epingle in the Group 3 ATC Epona Stakes.

The daughter of Snitzel was purchased by her Kembla Grange based trainer Kerry Parker for $50,000 as a yearling and has returned $291,890 in prizemoney earnings.

The four-year-old (pictured in green silks) is clearly defying her sprinting pedigree and Parker might even choose to push on to the 3200m Sydney Cup next month if the mare continues to improve.

There are 18 yearlings by the winner’s sire Snitzel catalogued to be sold at the upcoming Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale including four in the draft of Arrowfield Stud, which sold Aliyana Tilde as a yearling.

Exactly one hour later in Melbourne consistent performer Budriguez ($25,000 2008 Classic, 6g Al Maher-Deni) continued his top form to lead all the way under the top weight of 59kgs in the Group 3 MRC Victoria Handicap over 1400m at Caulfield.

The son of Al Maher has now won 12 times from 30 starts earning $675,000 in prizemoney, a great return on the $25,000 his trainer David Jolly paid for him from the draft of Widden Stud at the 2008 Inglis Sydney Classic Yearling Sale.

Widden Stud will bring a strong draft of 29 yearlings to the 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale. 7 yearlings by Al Maher will also be offered at the Sydney sale.

Fastnet Rock is the most represented sire in the Easter Yearling catalogue with 51 yearlings and the champion sire son of Danehill was responsible for the quinella in the Group 2 ATC Magic Night Stakes at Rosehill with blue-blooded fillies Scandiva and Shahad fighting out a tight finish.

Eliza Park will offer the three-quarter-brother to Scandiva as Lot 319 at the Easter Sale. His dam Scandinavia is also the grand dam of Black Caviar and All Too Hard.

High Chaparral’s son It’s A Dundeel was an ultra-impressive winner of the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas, shining the light on the 35 yearlings by his sire catalogued for Easter.

Kitchwin Hill’s will offer the only Easter yearling by Bel Espirt, the sire of dazzling Group 1 ATC Galaxy winner Bel Sprinter.

Other sires that recorded stakes winners around Australia today and are well represented in the 2013 Easter Yearling Sale catalogue include Redoute’s Choice (35 lots), Exceed And Excel (9) and Cape Cross (1).
