The supplementary entries already include Delzao and the well related Streghetta.

The Group winning Group 1 placed Delzao joins Blue Diamond winner Undoubtedly as a stallion prospect in this year’s sale.

Well credentialed young mare Streghetta is being sold in foal to the Cambridge legend Zabeel. She is a full-sister to Group 3 winner Lucky Diva and Listed winner Gina Lollawitcha, in addition to being a half-relation to the stakes winners Spirit Of Westbury and Duke Of Westbury. All are from the outstanding Listed winning producer Lucky Witch.

Currently at Cambridge Stud in New Zealand, Streghetta was covered on September 16 and will be offered for sale on account of Bucklee Farm, Greta West (as agent) on Thursday May 20.

This year’s Great Southern Sale begins Monday May 17 and runs over five consecutive days. The weanling session will be held on Monday and Tuesday, with the Mares and Bloodstock session following on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

The final day includes a comprehensive racehorse section.

“The extension to five days is a direct result of the outstanding response from vendors,” Inglis Bloodstock Director Peter Heagney said.

“With the addition of supplementaries, we are anticipating more than 1000 horses to be offered.”

Heagney said the sale has a well earned reputation as a source of quality bloodstock .

“Recent graduates of the weanling section include the Group 1 AJC Sires winner Yosei and fellow two-year-old stakes winner Warm Love, while Scenic Blast’s dam was acquired amongst the mares section” he said.

Heagney said this year’s weanling section is up significantly on quality.

“It’s always exciting to see the progeny of first season sires and this year we have 26 represented, including 21 Group One winners, 10 of them carrying the title of Champion or Highest Rated of their year,” Heagney said.

Local sires with their first weanlings on offer include Casino Prince, De Beers, Haradasun, Magnus, Purrealist, Shinzig and Testafiable.

There is also a big contingent of first season shuttlers, including Group One winners Any Given Saturday (USA), Bernardini (USA), Dylan Thomas (Ire), Excellent Art (GB), Hard Spun (USA), Hat Trick (JPN), Henny Hughes (USA), Honor In War (USA), Host (CHI), Husson (Arg), Librettist (USA), Masterpiece (Arg), Soldier's Tale (USA), Street Sense (USA) and Trotamondo (CHI).

Proven top sires like Choisir, Commands, General Nediym, Lonhro, Shamardal (USA), Starcraft and Champion First Season Sire elect Stratum are also represented in the weanling section.

The broodmare section boasts a good cross section of both proven and commercial young sires while More Than Ready filly Floramour, a Great Southern graduate who recently won the Manihi Classic (L) at Morphettville, is a great reminder of what can be found by astute buyers amongst the Bloodstock Section.
