$15K Basinghall Filly Highlights Autumn Value

The value buying to be had at the Inglis Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale at Oaklands was underlined at Seymour today, with $15,000 purchase Jill’s Angel taking out the $100,000 Inglis Autumn Plate.

JILL’S ANGEL ($15,000 2009 Autumn, 2f Invincible Spirit-Ithica) was sold to trainer Peter Morgan by Basinghall Farm and has been a beneficiary of the Inglis Race Series in both starts to date. On debut last October, she ran third in the $250,000 Inglis Juvenile at Moonee Valley and her earnings now top $80,000 from just two starts.

Today’s runner-up, Reallen, also wiped out her purchase price with today’s placing.

Jill's Angel's added to the recent success for Tas Reilly's Nagambie based Basinghall Farm, who also sold Saturday's AJC G1 The Galaxy winner Ortensia through the Oakland's ring. Bassinghall Farm will offer seven yearlings in this year's Melbourne Autumn Yearling Sale commencing this Thursday.

“It is a consistent theme with this sale that buyers secure great value for money,” Inglis Director Peter Heagney said.

“This season we have seen stakes winners like She’s Got Gears ($45,000), Periduki ($4000) and Orbit Express (P$18,500) underline how you can walk away with a quality yearling at this sale without spending a fortune.

“The unbeaten Our Baby Bonus ($42,500) is another, while recent Group 1 winners like Pompeii Ruler, Grand Journey and Lazer Sharp could each have been purchased for less than $20,000 out of this sale.”

The 2010 Autumn Yearling Sale will be held at Oaklands this week over two days, Thursday April 22 and Friday April 23 with 505 lots catalogued.

This week’s sale has received some important updates since the catalogue went to press, with close relations to recent Group 1 winners like Ortensia, Sacred Kingdom and Crystal Lily.

Lot 36 is a Commands colt from a half sister to Aerate's Pick, dam of Saturday’s G1 Galaxy winner Ortensia.

Lot 81 is a Hussonet half-brother to the dam of Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes winner Brightexpectations.

Lot 244 is a Kempinsky colt from a half sister to Songfest – the dam of budding Singapore Champion Better Than Ever, who added another Group 2 success to his record at the weekend.

Lot 310, a Delago Brom filly, is the fifth foal from a half sister to Sacred Kingdom, who has won the G1 Chairman’s Sprint Prize since the catalogue went to print.

Lot 388 a Fomalhaut colt from a half sister to Crystal Snip, dam of G1 Golden Slipper winner Crystal Lily.

Lot 416 (by Tiger Hill) is the first foal from a sister of Descendant, dam of G3 winner Patronyme.
