Booker's dam the latest star Chairman's Sale entry

Noondie – the dam of last month’s Group 1 Oakleigh Plate winner Booker – has joined the wave of high profile entrants confirmed for the Inglis Chairman’s Sale.

The daughter of Flying Spur will be offered in foal to leading stallion Written Tycoon, making the resultant foal a full sibling to Booker.

Booker (pictured), a graduate of the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, has proven herself to be one of the most tenacious sprinting mares in the country.

With the exception of her debut – which resulted in a dominant win at Flemington – Booker has raced exclusively at Stakes level throughout her career.

Her crowning moment to date came in the Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield three weeks ago, where she beat a stellar field of sprinters including the likes of Viddora and Nature Strip to claim her maiden Group 1 success.

Twelve months earlier Booker had finished fourth, 0.4 lengths behind Russian Revolution, Snitty Kitty and Hellbent in the 2018 edition of the Oakleigh Plate.

A three-time Stakes winner, Booker defeated Shoals and Catchy in the Group 2 Thousand Guineas Prelude, while her form also includes a narrow second behind eventual dual G1 winner Merchant Navy in the Group 3 McNeil Stakes as a 3YO.

Noondie joins the likes of Aloisia, Srikandi, Norzita, Snitty Kitty and Now Now as headline entries in the sale.

Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian expected Noondie to be of extreme interest to a diverse buying bench.

“Noondie is a stunning individual and she will appeal to the most discerning of broodmare buyers,” Vivian said.

“Noondie’s weanling colt by Capitalist is as good a foal as you could hope to see. She is back in foal to Written Tycoon, hence carrying a full relation to Booker and I’ve no doubt every major breeder would love to own such a commercial package.”

The Chairman’s Sale will be held at Riverside Stables on the evening of Friday May 3.

Entries must close by 5pm tomorrow, Friday March 15.
