Broodmare session concludes as GSS enters Day 5

Day Four of the 2018 Inglis Great Southern Sale rounded out the broodmare section of the catalogue, which saw eight mares reach $100,000 or more.

They included today’s top Lot Darook Park (Darci Brahma x Silk Ending), in foal to Written Tycoon, purchased by Boom Racing Thoroughbreds for $135,000.

She was offered by Woodside Park Stud.

Boom Racing Thoroughbreds’ Andrew Dunemann said Darook Park would likely be served by Spirit of Boom.

“Being in foal to Written Tycoon (was a big attraction) and she a nice page and has black type throughout her family,” Dunemann said.

“The quality of mares he (Spirit of Boom) has got this year is unbelievable compared to what he has served in the first four years.”

Other six-figure mares sold today included the Rosemont Stud offering Little Bita Love, purchased for $110,000 by Rothwell Park and More Bubbles (pictured), who was purchased by Steve Brem and Burnewang North, from the Waltrin Pty Ltd draft for $100,000.

The Broodmare section of the 2018 Inglis Great Southern Sale concluded with a total of 220 mares sold at a clearance rate of 75% and an average of $20,170.

Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager Simon Vivian reflected on the session.

“It’s been great to offer such a large catalogue,” Vivian said.

“There was strong competition for the mares at the top end of the sale and we saw some fantastic results.

“Overall the results have been pleasing and we look forward to selling a large draft of racehorses tomorrow.

“We’ve seen great success from tried horses through the ring at Oaklands.

“Last year Tricolours Syndications bought Pecans from Godolphin for $50,000, who has since gone on to win two stakes races.

“With more than 150 racehorses on offer, we would love to see some similar success stories and believe the opportunities exist.”

Action on the final day of the Inglis Great Southern Sale begins tomorrow at 10am.

Catalogued to go through the ring are also 20 yearlings and a number of unbroken stock.
