Easter Great All Too Hard Takes Centre Stage

In a week focused on greatness, the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale on 5, 6 and 7 April 2016 will see the first progeny of eight racetrack stars-turned-sires take centre stage including Easter champion All Too Hard.

Over 100 yearlings from the first crop of All Too Hard, Animal Kingdom, Dalakhani, Delago Deluxe, Excelebration, Ocean Park, Pierro and Your Song are set to be offered at Easter, where All Too Hard left his mark as the sale topper in 2011.

Makybe Stud consigned All Too Hard on behalf of breeder Rick Jamieson’s Gilgai Farm and the exceptional colt from the first crop of Casino Price was secured with a sale topping bid of $1,025,000. Sent to Hawkes Racing the colt was trained to a brilliant career highlighted by four Group 1 victories and $2.28 million in earnings.

All Too Hard is the only horse in history to win the Caulfield Guineas, CF Orr Stakes, Futurity Stakes and All Aged Stakes in the same season. The half-brother to Black Caviar was crowned equal World Champion 3YO Miler (Turf) and Champion 3YO Colt in Australia ahead of fierce rival Pierro.

“All Too Hard was a beautifully bred horse, and the highest-rated three-year-old in the country, and he’s now a magnificent stallion,” said General Manager of Vinery Stud, Peter Orton.

“He’s a dominant horse, both on the racetrack and now in the breeding barn as he stamps his stock with his own X-factor. He went to stud when a very good group of colts went to stud, so it was competitive but he covered 25 Group 1 winners in his first two seasons,” added Orton.

37 yearlings by All Too Hard have been catalogued for the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale including 22 from stakes winning mares.

Two first-season-sires that were able to defeat All Too Hard on the track and will now face-off in the Easter Sale ring were Pierro and Ocean Park.

Pierro defeated All Too Hard in the Group 1 ATC Sire’s Produce Stakes, the second leg of his clean sweep of Australia’s two-year-old Triple Crown. The son of Lonhro was the highest rated two-year-old since 1977, crowned Champion 2YO in Australia and the Leading 3YO Male on the 2013 World Thoroughbred Rankings (Sprint). There are 41 yearlings by Pierro catalogued for Easter.

Ocean Park, All Too Hard and Pierro finished first, second and third respectively in the W.S. Cox Plate of 2012. Ocean Park (by Thorn Park) has eight first-crop progeny to the offered at Easter.

The best bred and conformed youngsters from the first crops of All Too Hard, Pierro and Ocean Park will join those from Animal Kingdom (7), Dalakhani (2), Delago Deluxe (4), Excelebration (1) and Your Song (8), and five from Frankel’s first Southern Hemisphere crop, at Inglis’ Newmarket complex next week for the start of inspections.

In all 56 sires are represented among the 580 lots in the 2016 Inglis Easter catalogue. Yearlings will start arriving this weekend in preparation for parading next week. A full parade schedule will be made available in the coming days.
