Future Racetrack Stars Step Out At Canterbury

67 exciting two-year-olds unveiled another aspect of their outstanding racetrack potential at Canterbury today, averaging 11.43 seconds for a breeze up over 200m. Despite running on a track officially rated a Soft 7, this average is the fastest of the three sessions conducted at Canterbury, 0.02 faster than 2013 (Good 3), and 0.05 quicker than 2014 (Slow 6).

“Despite receiving 8.5mm rainfall in the 48 hours prior to the running of the breeze up at Canterbury today, the track held up very well and the professionalism of horses and vendors made for a very successful event,” said Inglis Asia Representative Peter Twomey.

“The quality of the two-year-olds we saw today was excellent, and we look forward to another 60 outstanding racing prospects breezing up at Cranbourne in Victoria next Tuesday 8 September," Twomey said.

Eight horses recorded times below 11 seconds, with the fastest time being 10.84 clocked by the outstanding Star Witness colt ex Expertise (Lot 144), which was presented by Jackson Bloodstock.

The second-fastest time was clocked by none other than the half-brother to Godolphin’s impressive juvenile Haptic (Lot 84). The beautifully-conformed colt by I Am Invincible ex Troubeaut was prepared by Cheveaux Bloodstock, which will offer a draft of seven quality individuals for sale at Newmarket next month.

Another well-related two-year-old, Lot 111, recorded the third-fastest time of 10.87. The brother to Group 1 South Australian Derby winner Shadows In The Sun (Dane Shadow x Best Out West) has been impeccably prepared by Hobartville Stud.

Two lots ran a time of 10.99, Lot 24 from Woodside Park Stud (Artie Schiller x Lessie) and Lot 62 from Think Big Stud (Pendragon x Resonance), the same time run by Rod Northam’s Group 1-performed juvenile Odyssey Moon which was sourced at last year’s sale.

Other two-year-olds to come in under 11 seconds are:

10.90 | Lot 134 | Star Witness x Dasoudi | Carramar Park
10.91 | Lot 36 | Starcraft x Milande | Jackson Bloodstock
10.92 | Lot 60 | Pendragon x Reglisse | Think Big Stud
