Inglis Easter Sales come to a close in Sydney

The 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale came to close today in Sydney, which played host to hundreds of local, interstate and international investors over the last two weeks.

“Nice to finish our busy two weeks of the Easter yearling and broodmare sales just like it started, with many lots making more than their vendor’s reserves,” said Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.

“It has been a great fortnight in Sydney with outstanding results at the yearling sale flowing into solid results this week. Good buying benches were attracted to both sales, which is positive leading into our other breeding stock sales in Melbourne and then back here in June,” D’Arcy added.

Online bidding was again a feature during Thursday’s Select and General Session Broodmare offerings. Over the course of the last three days 48 lots have been sold online for $455,800 after 163 lots received an online bid.

81% of the 150 fillies and mares offered on the final day of the Australian Easter Broodmare Sale were sold.

The top price recorded today was $180,000 for Seven Stars (Lot 437) which was purchased by Belmont Bloodstock. The half-sister to Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso is already the proven producer of Group 2 winning three-year-old Happy Galaxy and was sold in foal to first season sire Poet’s Voice.

City winning Redoute’s Choice mare Tropicana Girl (Lot 477) was purchased by Golden Slipper winning breeders Corumbene Stud for $140,000, while Encosta de Lago mare Senesta (Lot 436) was picked up by Claredale Pastoral of South Australia for $120,000 carrying a positive test to Australia’s current leading sire Exceed and Excel.
