New Year, new records for Inglis Digital

A new Inglis Digital record gross of $1.76 million was reached last night, when the January 2019 Online Auction closed for bidding.

A total of 232 racehorses, broodmares, yearlings and racehorse shares were catalogued, which is the second largest number of entries since Inglis Digital’s first auction in May 2017.

The top lot was Legislation (pictured), a 3YO Not a Single Doubt gelding offered by Newgate Farm as agent.

First time Inglis Digital buyer David Pfieffer went to $80,000 to secure the Sydney metropolitan winner.

After buying from Inglis Digital for the first time in December, Singapore-based trainer Lee Freedman returned this month, purchasing Lindsay Park-consigned galloper Muraahib for $75,000.

New Zealand entry Upswing was the third top lot, bought by Victorian horseman Patrick Payne for $42,500.

The broodmare category was topped by two mares at $37,500, including the Epona Park-consigned Alana’s Dream, with a Pride of Dubai colt at foot.

The other was Alinghi’s three-quarter sister Sophia Lago (Encosta de Lago), offered by Lyndhurst Stud with a Better Than Ready colt at foot and back in foal to the leading 2YO sire.

Inglis Digital Business Manager Nick Melmeth said the gross and clearance rate were extremely strong considering the size of the catalogue.

“Out of the 230 lots offered (two withdrawn) in the January Online Auction, we’ve sold 175, which gives us a clearance rate of 76%,” Melmeth said.

“It’s an extremely healthy figure, given the size of the catalogue and the clearance rate is climbing with post-sale deals still being completed.”
