No stopping The Enzo in Inglis Classic

Patrick Lee only bought one horse at last year’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and today that colt more than paid for itself by winning the $250,000 Restricted Listed Inglis Classic at Warwick Farm.

The Enzo was the “colt with the shiny eye and good strong walk’’, according to Lee, who bought him for $50,000 from the draft of Lustre Lodge.

Today the son of Stratum and Danica earned almost three times his price tag at what was just his fourth career start.

The Enzo beat Sanctimonious (Foxwedge) and Pembroke Castle (I Am Invincible).

“Thankyou for Inglis. They help me find all these horses. This horse was not so expensive but still a really nice horse for the owners,’’ Lee said after the win.

“He was a good type, the eye was shiny and his walk was very smooth and strong.

“I always have luck at Inglis. Inglis brings me the luck!’’

Winning trainer Mark Newnham said The Enzo would be even better over further.

“I was glad this race was 1200m because he’s been looking for every inch of that,’’ Newnham said.

“I knew he would be strong late.’’

Newnham received a pair of Swarovski Optik EL 32 Swarovision binoculars valued at $2,554, as the winning trainer of an Inglis Race Series event.

The Enzo’s Deep Field half brother is being offered by Lustre Lodge as part of tonight’s Gold Riband session at the historic first sale at Riverside Stables, which begins at 6pm.
