Occy’s Star Shines For Scone

The recent hot run of success for graduates of the Scone Select Yearling Sale continued at Randwick when Star Of Octagonal proved too strong in the Group 3 South Pacific Classic (1400m).

In an all Inglis finish, STAR OF OCTAGONAL ($23,000 2008 Scone, 3g Octagonal-Joyce) beat last start stakes winner Neeson (P$65,000 Easter II) and the eye-catching All Legal ($25,000 Classic).

Star Of Octagonal was offered for sale by Woodlands Stud and secured by trainer Todd Howlett. His earnings now sit at $165,000 with two wins in five starts.

He becomes the fourth individual stakes winning graduate from the Scone sale in the past month, joining Group 1 winner Small Minds, Hot Danish and Welkom Gold.

Star Of Octagonal is now headed to the Scone Inglis Guineas (1600m) on May 14, which boasts prizemoney of $770,000, including $500,000 to the winner.

The 2010 Scone Select Yearling Sale is now ONLINE and catalogues will be distributed this week. The sale will be held over two days on May 13 and 16.
