Opportunities Abundant At Great Southern Sale

The final major breeding stock sale for 2015, the Inglis Great Southern Sale will be held in just a little over two weeks, across four days on 21, 22, 23 and 24 June at Inglis’ Oaklands Complex in Melbourne.

The 724-strong catalogue is full of opportunities to secure stock from some of Australia’s richest thoroughbred families, with over 50 weanlings from stakes performers and no less than 37 broodmares on offer being stakes-performers themselves.

354 weanlings have been catalogued of which 259 are in the Platinum Session. All weanlings in this section will have a full set of radiographs lodged in the repository.

A highlight of the sale is Rosemont Stud’s annual reduction consisting of 64 Lots throughout the catalogue, starting with Lot 3, the weanling half-brother to Group 1 winner Perfectly Ready out of a half-sister to Golden Slipper winner Belle Du Jour. Among Rosemont’s 38 mares is Romance Writer (Lot 501), which hails from the family of Lankan Rupee, being a half-sister to both Group 2 winner La Sizeranne and recent Group 1 Queensland Oaks third-placed Imperial Lass.

Eliza Park Stud will offer a draft of 22 weanlings, and 12 broodmares including Any Dane Now (Lot 574), a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner Boban and in foal to Fiorente. In the racehorse section, the Kerrie-based farm will also offer the half-brother to multiple Group 2 winner Set For Fame (Lot 700).

One of Nagambie’s most progressive Thoroughbred breeding operations Swettenham Stud will offer 21 weanlings along with 14 broodmares in foal to their resident stallions Equiano, Master Of Design and Americain, as well as Fiorente, Dalakhani, Artie Schiller, Big Brown and Kaphero.

Among the Phoenix Broodmare Farm draft of 7 weanlings and 14 mares is Miss Chaski (Lot 449), in foal to Helmet and carrying a full-relation to her yearling that sold to Peter Moody and Wylie Dalziel for $125,000 at the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale earlier this year.

Makybe Stud are bringing a select draft of four weanlings, featuring some of Australia’s most sought-after bloodlines. Colts by Exceed And Excel, Helmet and Choisir join a filly (Lot 60) by Not A Single Doubt out of a daughter of the great Makybe Diva and from the family of recent Listed VRC Andrew Ramsden Stakes winner La Amistad.

Another boutique draft is offered by Carus Park, whose seven mares are highlighted by Sweeping Plains (Lot 539). In foal to Domesday, the mare has produced two winners from two to race and is from the highly desirable family of boom sire Snitzel.

In the racehorse section, an interesting entry is Lot 708, the two-year-old unnamed gelding by Bel Esprit out of a stakes-winning mare, closely related to Black Caviar.

Supplementary entries for the 2015 Inglis Great Southern Sale will be accepted until 5pm, Friday 12 June. CLICK HERE to download the Supplementary Entry Form, or CLICK HERE to enter horses online.
