Premier Yearlings Arrive From Tuesday

Over 700 yearlings will start arriving at Inglis’ Oaklands Sales Complex, on the outskirts of Melbourne, from Tuesday next week in readiness for an irresistible Premier Yearling Sale.

Leading studs from Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania have been busy parading their yearlings on farm for prospective buyers the last few weeks and they’ll all come together next week for what promises to be an exciting Melbourne Premier Sale from Sunday, 2 to Wednesday, 5 March.

“There is no doubt that vendor support of this sale has increased year on year. We received almost 2,000 entries for this year’s sale enabling our bloodstock team to be very selective on not only pedigree but type and conformation,” points out Peter Heagney, Inglis’ Melbourne Bloodstock Director.

Eliza Park International has the largest draft for the 2014 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale with 50 yearlings.

Arrowfield Stud, the breeders of Melbourne Premier graduate Snitzerland, will be bringing a draft of 26 to Premier. Black Caviar’s breeders Gilgai Farm have 14 to offer, while Fawkner’s vendor Mill Park has 10 yearlings for sale.

Swettenham Stud have 31 yearlings to auction at Premier, while Three Bridges Thoroughbreds (29 lots), Yallambee Stud (29), Supreme Thoroughbreds (25), Rosemont Stud (24), Phoenix Broodmare Farm (22), Blue Gum Farm (21) and Emirates Park (21) all have large 20+ drafts.

Buyers will also notice more black-type with greater frequency on the pedigree pages within this year’s catalogue.

“There are more yearlings from stakes winning dams and siblings to black-type winners in this year’s catalogue than 12 months ago, plus the representation of Australia’s leading sires is well up,” adds Heagney.

Stallions with increased representation at this year’s Premier Sale include Snitzel, Fastnet Rock, Not A Single Doubt, Encosta de Lago, Lonhro, Denman, Manhattan Rain, New Approach, Sebring and Wanted.

Redoute’s Choice will have his biggest ever representation at a Melbourne Sale with 10 yearlings in the 2014 auction.

Buyers will also be spoilt for choice with 120 yearlings by exciting first season sires Reward For Effort, Starspangledbanner, Beneteau, Congrats, Equiano, Hinchinbrook, Keano, Lookin At Lucky, Lope de Vega, Paco Boy, Rothesay, Shocking, Star Witness, Stryker, Super Saver and Tickets.
