Star filly Reigns in further riches

Fairytale filly She Will Reign proved she is set for another stunning campaign following her comfortable win in today’s $250,000 Restricted Listed Inglis Sprint at Warwick Farm.

On the day of the historic first sale at Riverside Stables, the Classic Yearling Sale – the very sale she was bought from – She Will Reign produced her trademark fighting finish to score a strong win on her home track.

It was the mighty filly’s fourth first-up win from four attempts.

She will now head to Melbourne for the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield on February 24 before a tilt at the TJ Smith Stakes during The Championships at Randwick.

Scott Darby, from ownership group Darby Racing, couldn’t have been more impressed with the win.

“She only had one trial so missed a bit of work and needed the run so it was just the perfect pipe-opener for her,’’ Darby said.

“But first it’s off to the Classic Sale. Look out sale, look out!’’

Trainer Gary Portelli received a pair of Swarovski Optik EL 32 Swarovision binoculars valued at $2,554, as the winning trainer of an Inglis Race Series event.

She Will Reign (Manhattan Rain x Courgette) was a $20,000 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale buy for Darby Racing from the Ambergate Farm draft, as agent for Middlebrook Station.

She was bred by Garry Bachell.

There are six progeny of Manhattan Rain available for purchase at the 2018 Classic Yearling Sale, which begins at 6pm tonight and runs for four days.
