Three day Great Southern Sale catalogue available

584 lots have been catalogued for the 2013 Inglis Great Southern Sale, which will be conducted over three-days on 21, 22 and 23 May in Melbourne.

The catalogue is available online at www.inglis.com.au and on the Inglis Sales iPad app. Hard-copy catalogues can be requested by email to catalogue@inglis.com.au

200 weanlings (Lots 1 -200) will be offered on the opening day of the sale, Tuesday 21 May.

An additional 89 weanlings (Lots 201 – 289) will kick off day two and will be followed by 141 Broodmares (Lots 290 – 430) that afternoon, Wednesday 22 May.

The final day of the 2013 sale, Thursday 23 May, features the remaining 102 Broodmares (Lots 431 – 533), plus stallions, yearlings, race fillies, colts and geldings (Lots 534 – 584).

Pin-hookers, owners and trainers continue to reap the rewards of astute weanling purchases from the Great Southern Sale.

Weanlings purchased for as little as $7,000 at last year’s Great Southern Sale made up to $80,000 at Inglis Select Yearling Sales in 2013.

On the racetrack star Great Southern Weanling Sale graduate Yosei continues to reward her owners. The Stuart Webb trained mare took her earnings past $1.25 million on Saturday when placing in the Group 1 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes.

The 2013 Great Southern Sale includes weanlings by proven sires such as Exceed And Excel, Encosta de Lago, High Chaparral, Bel Esprit, Statue of Liberty, Testa Rossa, Domesday, Choisir, Danzero, Not A Single Doubt, Artie Schiller, Foreplay, Pins, Reset and Written Tycoon.

Exciting young sires represented include Denman, Duporth, Hard Spun, I Am Invincible, Host, Magnus, Nicconi, Northern Meteor, O’Lonhro, Turffontein, Von Costa de Hero and Wanted.

Stallions with their first crop of weanlings to sale include Beneteau, Captain Gerrard, Equiano, Hinchinbrook, Lope de Vega, Reward For Effort, Star Witness, Stryker and Super Saver.

The one and a half days of weanlings will be followed by broodmares and mixed bloodstock.

17 of Australia’s current top 20 leading broodmare sires are represented with mares in the sale; Zabeel, Snippets, Danehill, Flying Spur, Encosta de Lago, Redoute’s Choice, Canny Lad, Quest For Fame, Last Tycoon, Grand Lodge, Royal Academy, Desert Sun, Octagonal, Rory’s Jester, Dehere, Scenic and Zeditave.

Many well-credentialed young mares are set to be offered, such as Chile Group 1 winner Shapira (in foal to Starcraft), stakes winner Icy Mist (in foal to Wanted), stakes placed Emma Princess (in foal to Wanted), as well as the dams of Arinosa, Lim’s Objective, Marveen, Hooness, Red Typhoon and Tropic Thunder.

To close out the sale on Wednesday afternoon is a varied selection of stallions, yearlings, unbroken stock and racehorses including stakes placed mares Twilighting Formidable and Lil Red Corvette.
