VOBIS Gold Finishes Strongly

Two of the 5 top priced lots came in the supplementary catalogue of the VOBIS Gold Yearling Sale General Session which concluded at Oaklands today.

Robert Smerdon bidding for Aquanita Racing had to stave off spirited competition to secure Hillside Thoroughbreds’ Starcraft – Freestyle (Lot 403) colt for $68,000.

A few lots before, Sheamus Mills Racing/Princess Park Racing went to $56,000 to claim the Artie Schiller – Chitraka (Lot 399) colt offered by Emirates Park. Yearlings sold post sale have seen the clearance in the Select Session of the sale rise to 86% and many yearlings passed in today, currently under offer, should also see an increase in the existing 74% clearance.

“It was pleasing to record an increase in average on last year’s sale and also to see the strength of the sale remain through to the end. Today further confirmed that well conformed and presented yearlings were in good demand – yearlings that did not meet this criteria were difficult to sell” commented Victorian Manager Peter Heagney."

The Inglis sales calendar now moves to Sydney for the Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale on 4, 5, 6 May to be followed by the Select Racehorse Sale in Melbourne on May 23.

Horses passed in during today’s session are available for sale via the Inglis Make-An-Offer Service.
