Winx sister latest highlight Chairman's entry

A half sister to Winx and multiple star-studded G1 performers are the latest high-profile fillies and mares committed to the 2021 Inglis Chairman’s Sale, part of the Inglis Breeding Stock Sales Series which is NOW OPEN for entries.

With two-time G1 winner Pippie (Written Tycoon) already confirmed, the likes of fellow dual G1 winner Danzdanzdance, G1 Blue Diamond runner-up Lankan Star and multiple Stakes-winning 2YO Mildred have also joined the catalogue, as has Courchevel - the Snitzel half sister to champion mare Winx – offered in foal to hot young sire Capitalist, making the resultant foal bred on the same cross as current Golden Slipper TAB favourite Profiteer.

These early entries have set the scene for another outstanding renewal of the sale, which in 2020 was the most successful of its kind in Australasia.

In the past two editions of the Chairman’s Sale, the average price for race fillies and race mares is over $545,000, while three of the four highest-priced pregnant mares sold at public auction in Australasia in 2019 and 2020 were sold at the Chairman’s Sale.

Eight fillies or mares have sold for $1m or more in that same time including Maastricht who sold for $2.25m in 2019 and In Her Time who sold for $2m in 2020, a record Australasian price for a breeding proposition of her age.

Inglis Bloodstock Consultant Harry Bailey said: “The Chairman’s Sale had an amazing feel to it in 2019 and while last years was held as a virtual auction due to the pandemic, the results were still phenomenal and we can’t wait to build off the back of that success again this year.

“It is an outstanding market for the promotion and sale of top-class broodmares and breeding prospects that attracts buyer participation from across Australia and right around the world.

“The tailored promotion for each and every lot in the sale sets an exceptional standard in the promotion of bloodstock and we are really excited by the 2021 Sale, which promises to be the best yet.’’

Places in the 2021 Chairman’s Sale are limited, so interested parties are encouraged to submit any entry to Inglis via inglis.com.au or contact a member of the Inglis Bloodstock Team.

For vendors and breeders looking to trade weanlings in 2021, the Australian Weanling Sale at Riverside and the Great Southern Weanling Sale at Oaklands offer tremendous opportunities.

Inglis sales are responsible for the highest-priced weanling sold at public auction in Australia in the past two years, as well as two of the three highest-priced weanlings in Australia in 2020.

“We feel our weanling sales are well-timed to cater for vendors at all levels,” Inglis’ NSW Bloodstock Manager Chris Russell said.

“People can sell first and get an early crack at the money with our Australian Weanling Sale at Riverside or capitalise from any urgency of demand at the Great Southern Weanling Sale at Oaklands in June, while there is also the added incentive of a reduced rate of sales commission.

“There is a real confidence in the market with the Classic Sale having set a range of new records and the expectation is that this momentum can continue throughout the sales series, so we are very much looking forward to it and helping vendors to achieve more outstanding results.”
