2022 Gold Yearling Sale catalogue

The catalogue for the 2022 Gold Yearling Sale – one of the best value yearling sales of the year – is now available online.

In terms of pure return on investment, the performance of the Gold Sale is eye-catching.

There have been many stories of ‘extraordinary shopping’ at Gold in recent years.

Horses like G1 winners Savatoxl (cost $8000, so far won $914,000) and Lunar Fox (cost $40,000 and returned $1.1m to date) and Media Award (cost $5000 and returned $350,000) head a list of memorable returns that includes many others such as Mahamadeis (cost $24,000, won $1.2m), Lyuba (cost $2000, won $450,000), Desert Lashes (cost $6000, won $450,000), Barry The Baptist (cost $16,000 and won $480,000), Gold Fields (cost $42,000, won $775,000) etc.

This year’s catalogue again presents buyers with many opportunities to discover their next big money earners.

In total 224 yearlings will be offered at Oaklands on Thursday April 21, a new sale date to ensure clients can enjoy the Anzac Day long weekend.

Of those, 130 or 58% are Super Vobis nominated, opening up so many added financial windfalls for owners.

Some of the most sought-after stallions in the country have progeny at this sale including Russian Revolution, Street Boss, Capitalist, Deep Field, Brazen Beau, Tivaci, Toronado, Xtravagant, Smart Missile, Churchill, Dundeel, Nicconi, Shalaa etc.

There are also offerings by a strong crop of First Season Sires such as The Autumn Sun, Trapeze Artist, Written By, Grunt, Lean Mean Machine, Sioux Nation, Showtime, National Defense etc.

“The Gold Sale continues to go from strength to strength and the recent racetrack successes by the likes of especially Savatoxl and Media Award and Lunar Fox, who have all won Group 1 races in the past couple of seasons,’’ Inglis’ Victorian Bloodstock Manager James Price said.

“The yearling market has been very strong to date this year and the Gold Sale provides buyers with an opportunity to secure some quality stock at prices that aren’t out of reach for most.

“With so many of these yearlings also Super Vobis nominated and prizemoney levels so strong in Victorian and all around Australia at the moment, I strongly urge participants to take a close look at the Gold catalogue to source their next stable stars.’’

Supplementary entries for the Gold Sale will remain open until Monday April 11.

For those unable to attend Oaklands for the sale, our user-friendly and reliable online bidding system will again be available and all pertinent information - as well as videos and photos - will be on the Inglis website.

The Gold Sale will begin at 10am.
