14-in-a-row for Black Caviar

Superstar Black Caviar stretched her unbeaten streak to 14 in amazing fashion in Group 2 MRC Schillaci Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield today.

BLACK CAVIAR ($210,000 2008 Premier, 5m Bel Esprit-Helsinge) was only fairly away from the barriers before mustering her usual effortless speed to sit just behind the leaders, on the turn she peeled three wide around leader Karuta Queen before galloping away to a four and a half length victory in the 1000m contest in 56.73secs.

With the pressure rising with each and every victory trainer Peter Moody was again extremely relieved that the darling of Australian racing had saluted again for the hordes of fans on track to see the great mare.

“It’s great to see her back doing what she enjoys,” Moody said after the win.

“She is an unbelievable athlete and it is just great to see her back in that shape”

“We feel an obligation to showcase our sport and this is our opportunity in the spring and this horse is our banner horse”

“It is just great to see her back and putting on a great show for the crowd” Moody added.

Black Caviar today equalled the feat of the immortal Phar Lap, notching up 14 wins-in-a-row, but Moody would not be dragged into any comparisons between the two greats of the Australian Turf.

“I’m not going to take anything away from a horse that carried a nation over eight decades ago in the great depression [in Phar Lap]”, Moody said.

“But to win 14 straight from day one is her uniqueness and that can never be taken away from her,” Moody concluded.
