$2.4 million Inglis Triple Crown Bonus ambitions for Twilight Royale

The connections of Twilight Royale are in with a huge chance to take home the new $2.4 million Inglis Triple Crown Bonus after the Bjorn Baker trained filly scored a tough win in the Group 2 VRC Sire’s Produce Stakes over 1400m at Flemington.

“She’s got that good turn of foot and I was able to track right through, had a bit of luck and got to the outside and she gave me three or four lengths pretty quickly but then she had to fight and she is very good at that,” said jockey Michael Rodd.

Twilight Royale ($45,000 2012 Premier, 2f Testa Rossa-Royal Season) took her earnings to $475,000 when holding off fellow Inglis Yearling Sale graduates Shamus Award and Great Esteem.

But her biggest payday could come in May 2014 when the daughter of Testa Rossa lines up in the Restricted Listed Inglis Guineas, which is the third and final leg of the Inglis Triple Crown Bonus.

A $2.4 million Bonus will be paid by Inglis to the connections of the same horse that can win the three legs of the Inglis Triple Crown Bonus.

Twilight Royale was sold from the draft the Kitchwin Hills Stud on behalf of breeders Terrann Investments Pty Ltd at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

The valuable filly’s owners have enjoyed a fantastic run with the $45,000 yearling sale purchase, but are still keen to continue to aim higher.

“Obviously we’ll go to Scone next year and Bjorn will start planning whether we put her away in cotton wool or what we do,” said winning part-owner Craig Tognolini.

“It’s about $2.6 million in bonuses if she wins at Scone and if the other races don’t go off then it increases as well so it’s a good lure.

“We won the Nursery and then followed up at Mornington (Inglis Premier) so she has been terrific for us.

“I think there are about five or six owners and my twenty pre-cent is looking alright now.”

“It was on the market as of yesterday, there was an offer for it late last night but they didn’t put the money in so I’m happy about that,” said Tognolini.

Twilight Royale continued the great run of success for Inglis Yearling Sale graduates in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes, with six of the last seven running’s of the race being won by Inglis graduates; Twilight Royale, All Too Hard, Running Tall, Rostova, Von Costa de Hero & Incumbent.

8 yearlings by Twilight Royale’s sire Testa Rossa are catalogued for the upcoming 2013 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, while Kitchwin Hills are set to offer 23 yearlings at the prestigious sale.

Vinery Stud will offer the yearling half-sister sister to second placegetter Shamus Award as Lot 496 at the Easter Sale, while Cressfield will offer the three-quarter-sister to third placed Great Esteem as Lot 249 at the April auction.

The full Easter catalogue is available online at www.inglis.com.au and on the updated Inglis Sales iPad app.

All yearlings purchased at Inglis Select Yearling Sales are eligible for nomination into the $5million Inglis Race Series, which includes the $2.4 million Inglis Triple Crown Bonus.
