A New Era Welcomed At Vibrant Sydney Broodmare Sale

It was a bright day at Newmarket in more ways than one on Monday as the first-class Tyreel Stud dispersal highlighted the progressive format and dates of the new Inglis Australian Broodmare and Weanling Sale.

“The first two days of the sale have been terrific. We are honoured that Dean Fleming entrusted Inglis to disperse Tyreel Stud’s quality broodmare band which was highly sought after by buyers,” said Inglis Bloodstock Director Jonathan D’Arcy.

“There is certainly plenty of optimism in the market as we’ve seen new players enter and existing ones show their intentions to grow with sizeable purchases in bloodstock today. We very much look forward to being given the opportunity to offer the progeny of mares purchased today at our select weanling, yearling and two-year-old sales in the future,” added D’Arcy.

The Tyreel Stud unreserved dispersal of 22 mares which averaged $168,545 was a feature of the day’s auction, but it was Group 3 winner Crafty Irna offered by Widden Stud as Lot 300 that topped the day when selling for $610,000.

Crafty Ira (pictured) was sold carrying a foal by Widden’s outstanding young sire Sebring. Other mares in foal to Sebring sold for $340,000, $310,000, $260,000 and $130,000 during the Select Broodmare Session.

A total of $12,890,850 was traded on 204 Select Session Broodmares today. The clearance rate over the day was a strong 82%.

Tyreel Stud provided four of the five top lots on Monday; Crossyourheart, Mid Summer Music, Brothers Dream and San Cristobel.

Crossyourheart (Lot 323) was sold to Steve Brem for $480,000 carrying a full relation to the Commands yearling filly that sold to Shadwell Australasia for $600,000 at last month’s Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Group 1 winner Mid Summer Music (Lot 338) was sold in foal to All Too Hard for $375,000 to Bruce Perry Bloodstock.

Charge Forward’s half-sister Brothers Dream (Lot 329) was knocked down to George Altomonte of Corumbene Stud for $370,000. The Redoute’s Choice mare was carrying a positive pregnancy test to Sepoy, while Fastnet Rock mare San Cristobel (Lot 339) was also sold for $370,000 when offed by Tyreel Stud.

Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock secured the top priced weanling yesterday, a colt by Fastnet Rock from Delta Girl for $450,000. Gabbedy went to $360,000 today to purchase Delta Girl herself when offered in foal to Pierro by Coolmore Stud as Lot 315. Belmont Bloodstock was also the buyer of Group 2 winner Cute Emily (Lot 304) in foal to Sebring for $340,000 from the draft of Yarraman Park Stud.
