AUGUST HORSE OF THE MONTH

4th Sep 2007

William Inglis & Son is immensely proud of its graduates who every month promote our name in winners circles around the globe.

This month we are delighted to recognise the achievements of

SHREWD RHYTHM

Breeding: 3YO bay colt by Danehill Dancer (IRE) ex Balcanny, by Canny Lad
Vendor: Limerick Lane Thoroughbreds
Owners: The Estate Of L J Whitta, P L Thomas, Mrs L Saade & P Caswell
Trainer: Greg Eurell

A graduate of the 2006 William Inglis & Son Premier Yearling Sale, the performance to win first up by Shrewd Rhythm sees him as August’s William Inglis & Son Horse Of The Month.

Commencing his racetrack career with a victory in a Caulfield 2YO Open Plate over 1000m, the Danehill Dancer (IRE) colt then progressed to claim the Group Three Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) at his second start, assuring he went into the Group One Blue Diamond Stakes as a leading contender.

Finishing a gallant third behind Sleek Chassis and beating home Elusive Quality (USA) filly Camarilla, who two starts later took out the Group One AJC Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes, Shrewd Rhythm ratified his reputation as one of the top 2YO’s of the season.

Before his first up victory in the Listed Vain Stakes at Caulfield this campaign, Lindsay Park Stud formed a syndicate to purchase the colt with the view to stand him at the famed Angaston property upon his retirement. Transferred from Greg Eurell to David Hayes stable, the colt is sure to be given every opportunity to reach the heights both Eurell and Hayes feel the colt is capable of reaching.

"Before he joined me I thought he was as good as any of them. I had two or three colts which competed with him. I thought, though, he was the one to have the scope to be a genuine Group 1 horse.

"I thought with his pedigree he has real potential to be a stallion on the way up." stated David Hayes.

William Inglis & Son would like to congratulate both the previous connections of Shrewd Rhythm as well as his new connections and wish all concerned the best of luck for his future racing and stud career.
