August Thoroughbred Sale

Held on Friday August 17, the 2007 William Inglis & Son August Thoroughbred Sale will see an extensive array of over 290 Broodmares, Yearlings, Stallions, Unbroken Stock as well as an impressive line up of race fillies and colts/geldings on offer.

The sale will commence at 10am, after the First Season Sire Showcase which begins at 9:15am, where industry participants will get the opportunity to view many outstandingly credentialed stallion prospects including Churchill Downs, Danerich, Econsul, Enemy of Average, Man Of Illusion, Pendragon, Primus, Witherwings and Written Tycoon.

Over 120 mares will be presented, many in foal to leading commercial stallions such as Bel Esprit, Catbird, Dash For Dash, General Nediym, Elvstroem, Benicio, Snitzel, Al Samer, Stravinsky (USA), Niello and Not A Single Doubt.

Various highlights from the broodmare section include;

Lot 33 - Malmaison, half-sister to stakes winner Territorial, believed to be in foal to Bel Esprit

Lot 95 - Ednalante, half-sister to stakes winner of six, Chitabe, from the family of Group One winner Rancher, believed to be in foal to Bel Esprit.

Lot 96 - Real Screamer, half-sister to Group Three winner Our Bellition, from the Listed winner Slightly Pink, family of dual Group Three winner Volitant, believed to be in foal to Not A Single Doubt

Lot 97 - Urakawa, winning Umatilla (NZ) mare, half-sister to Group One winner Rustic Dream, believed to be in foal to Group One winning sprinter Snitzel.

Lot 108 - Rare Performance - half-sister to Group Two winner Market Price (whose two foal to race are both stakes performers), believed to be in foal to General Nediym.

A plethora of racehorses are sure to meet the needs of trainers looking for both metropolitan and provincial performed gallopers. From a wide selection on offer, some highlights include;


Prima Nocte, the winner of over $250,000 is one of many highlights.

Lot 169 - Prima Nocte, a winner of eight races from 32 starts, the mare has amassed earnings in excess of $250,000, winning from 1000 to 1800m.

Lot 180 - Timeless Pleasure, lightly raced (only five starts), winner with metropolitan form behind smart gallopers Corton Charlemagne and Anhinga.

Lot 183 - Blissa Nova, dual city winning Bianconi (USA) mare, winner of close to $100,000 in stakes earnings.

Lot 200 - Paris Tryst, unraced Fusaichi Pegasus (USA) filly, from multiple Group One winner Let’s Elope, making the filly half-sister to Group Two winner Ustinov and the stakes performed Caught Courting and Yes I Will.
