Australian Bloodstock has Kosciuszko in sight following Inglis Digital purchase

Just three online catalogues into 2021 and Inglis Digital can boast $7.1 million turnover following the conclusion of the February (Early) Online Sale this evening, which grossed just shy of $2 million.

The top lot of the sale was 4YO gelding Mo’s Crown (Uncle Mo), who was purchased for $110,000 by Australian Bloodstock with the 2021 $1.3m The Kosciuszko in mind.

A winner of five of his 19 starts and close to $300,000 in prizemoney, Mo’s Crown was offered by Jason Coyle Racing (as agent) but will now be transferred to the stables of Cody Morgan.

“He’s a city performer and has also raced at Group level and has a NSW metropolitan benchmark rating of 80, these type of horses are hard to come by in the current market,” Australian Bloodstock’s Luke Murrell said.

“We think he could be a Kosciuszko horse in the Spring and based on the strong market at the recent Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, he looks like good buying at that level.”

The second top lot of the sale was lightly raced 3YO Written Tycoon gelding Ord, purchased by long-time Inglis Digital supporters Gangemi Thoroughbreds for $80,000, while All Winners Thoroughbred paid $70,000 for last start Randwick winner The First Of May (Zoffany).

For the first time, Tony and Di Marwick’s Secret View Thoroughbreds (WA), offered their 2021 yearling draft in the February (Early) catalogue and grossed $109,500 for the six colts and fillies.

“It’s really a first for WA and look we’re very happy with the result as well as how Inglis Digital assisted us throughout the process which makes such a difference,” Tony Marwick said.

“In the marketplace you’re just looking at what might have the biggest reach and we decided to try online with the yearling draft, because the platform has been so successful and obviously has this great reach in terms of the buying bench.

“We had about 20 people come and inspect the draft and to gross more than $100,000 is wonderful, so we’d definitely look at going down the Inglis Digital path again with a yearling draft.”

A Snippetson colt out of six-time winning mare New Vogue (Dane Shadow), topped the draft when purchased by Broome trainer Robert Gulberti.

Gulberti – who became the first WA trainer to win a Darwin Cup with dual champion Ihtsahymn – is in the process of relocating his operation to Perth and inspected the Secret View draft this morning.

“He’s a big, strong type that walked well and looks to have plenty of scope, I thought he was very similar to Snippetson himself,” Gulberti said.

“Di (Marwick) was very helpful and we made the most of the four and a half hour drive by inspecting yearlings at another stud nearby.

“I’ve bought some tried horses for the Broome circuit on Inglis Digital before and some weanlings which are yet to be broken in, but my intention is to continue to be a boutique operation.”

A graduate of last year’s Inglis Digital March (Late) Online Sale – a Nicconi half brother to Hydro Star – was one of the stars on day three of the Inglis Classic Sale.

The $8000 online weanling purchase returned a $200,000 dividend in the sale ring.
