Autumn Yearling Updates Aplenty

25th Apr 2007

With a swathe of recent updates occurring to numerous lots within this weekend’s 2007 William Inglis & Son Autumn Yearling Sale, vendors are relying on any addition to their pedigrees that may further attract attention in the sale ring.

Whether it be an update to the pedigree itself, or a further addition to the sires’ capabilities of getting winners, the smallest additional boost could add considerable monetary value to any yearling in the sale.

Leading the current sire’s table after recording what almost seems like weekly stakes winner’s is Danehill’s (USA) Golden Slipper winning son Flying Spur. Recent Group One winners Forensics, Mentality, Sleek Chassis and Magnus coupled with additional recent stakes winners Shaft and Alverta have aided in the Arrowfield based stallions’ lead. Which resulted in the recent announcement of a significant rise in his service fee for the next breeding season.

Set to go through the ring this Sunday as Lot 215, the colt is nominated for both the lucrative BOBS and Super VOBIS schemes, adding further interest to the already impressive pedigree page. A heavily laden black-type pedigree, this colt is from the 2YO Listed winner Brass, a daughter of the stakes winner of eight races, Golden Fantasy. The colt is also a half-brother to the smart Listed MVRC Platinum Stakes winning 2YO Pinchbeck, a graduate of the 2002 William Inglis & Son Premier Yearling Sale. Described by Tremon Thoroughbred’s Trevor Gluck as, “a very athletic and well put together yearling, very much in the mould of Pinchbeck who was a good racehorse, an early 2YO and some what unlucky not to be a multiple stakes winner.”

A pedigree that would have gained entry into Melbourne’s leading 2YO sale, the William Inglis & Son Premier Yearling Sale, but as he was a late foal, it was decided to wait for this sale where further maturity would see the colt among the star lots of the sale.

The weekend’s results saw updates to both Lots 77 and 368 through the deeds of William Inglis & Son Premier Sale Graduate Cancanelle who recorded a fast finishing second placing in the Group One SAJC Australasian Oaks, while the recent Group One victories of Desert War and William Inglis & Son Premier Sale Graduate Blutigeroo have added further black-type updates to Lots 129 and 330 respectively.
