Autumn Yearlings in Demand - Day 1

The strong momentum of the Premier Yearling Sale continued on the first day of the Autumn Yearling Sale when 129 lots sold for an average of $10,848 and a gross of $1,399,500. The clearance of 75% was consistent with the 2004 Autumn Yearling Sale.
Top price was achieved by Phoenix Broodmare Farm (As Agent) for the Archway – Lady Danzatore filly purchased by Rancho Ranch Pty Ltd for $72,500. Woodlands Stud with a beautifully presented draft, realised second record top price of $52,500 with an impressive colt by Canny Lad from Fleamarket, from the bid of Robert Trewin.
Well presented & well conformed yearlings were in very strong demand & meet good competition. Buyers from South Australia, New South Wales & Queensland competed with Victorian buyers for the better quality yearlings, making bidding on those yearlings very competitive.
The sale continues tomorrow with two yearlings by Encosta de Lago sure to be the highlights as well as some quality yearlings by Bianconi, Carnegie, Testa Rossa, Rubiton, Viscount & Canny Lad.
