Bank Robber Highlights Dash for Cash

Brian Russell Media - Wednesday, 13 May 2009

BANK ROBBER’S gallant centimeter second to Duporth in the $400,000 Group1 BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on Saturday at his first appearance for nearly six months suggests that this son of the awesome looking grey Dash for Cash could be on the threshold of the Group1 sprint success that has eluded him in his eleven start career.

A Gai Waterhouse trained 4-year-old gelding, Bank Robber (pictured) has knocked on the door of big time glory right from the start of his racing career at three.

After two trial successes, he won his first three outings, appearances in Sydney, including a startling debut win on Kensington by 7.5 lengths.

Since he began his 4-year-old campaign, he has won two stakes, the Show County Quality at Warwick Farm and the Tramway at Randwick, finished second in the AJC Epsom Handicap-Gr.1, fourth in the Emirates-Gr.1 at Flemington and a1.25 lengths fifth in the Railway Stakes-Gr.1 at Perth’s Ascot. Like the good Yarraman Park Stud, Hunter Valley sire Magic Albert a product of a Salieri mare, Bank Robber is one of 57 individual winners from the first crop of Dash for Cash, one of the powerhouse line up of sires available at Adam Sangster’s Swettenham Stud at Nagambie in Victoria.

A son of American bred Doncaster Handicap winner Secret Savings, a Mr. Prospector grandson, and a Rubiton mare, Dash for Cash won the Futurity Stakes at Caulfield and the Australian Guineas at Flemington and was runner up in the Doncaster, All-Aged Stakes, George Ryder Stakes and William Reid Stakes.

He has the ability and physical quality to get performers right up to the highest level. Owners, trainers and breeders do not have to wait until his 210 foals, but can access Dash for Cash in both the weanling and broodmare sections of the Inglis Great Southern Bloodstock Sale to be staged in Victoria next week over the four days of Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
