Bargains Still To Be Had From Inglis Breeze Up

27th Oct 2008

More than $1.7million was traded at today’s Inglis Breeze Up and Racehorse Sale, but owners and trainers still have the chance to secure a number of well-credentialled young horses via the Inglis Make an Offer service.

The sale was highlighted by three horses making $200,000 or more, including a $300,000 sale topping Encosta De Lago colt, but there were excellent bargains to be had in the middle and lower end of the market.

A number of horses were passed in through the course of the sale, but they are all still very much on the market and interested buyers can still use the Inglis Make an Offer service to secure these lots.

"These sales always throw up bargain buys and trainers that attended here today would be happy with their purchases," Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster said.

"The well credentialled horses we offered at the top end of the market sold well, but as expected the change in the current economic climate affected the middle and lower end of the market.

"There are some outstanding racing prospects still available and vendors are more than happy to negotiate on horses that didn't sell in the ring today.

"We have had quite a lot of post sale interest already via the make an offer service."

In all, 124 horses were sold today, with the Breeze up section of the catalogue averaging $27,087.

The Encosta De Lago colt was purchased by William Inglis as Agent on behalf of a client who intends to place the horse with John O’Shea.

Bob Scarborough’s Wood Nook Farm snapped up the beautifully-bred Zabeel filly from Mer Du Sud – the dam of G1 Hong Kong International Mile winner The Duke - for $240,000.

Another example of the top lots bringing good money was the Rock Of Gibraltar-Drawbridge colt, who was knocked down to Mike Moroney for $200,000, after selling at Easter earlier this year for just $160,000.

In the Racehorse section, Fusaichi Queen, a filly by Fusaichi Pegasus from the Group 1 producer On Centre Court (dam of Miss Kournikova), topped the sale at $38,000.
