Bjorn Baker shoots for consecutive Inglis Nurserys with trio that cost $53k

Racenet - Nic Ashman - Thursdya, 12 December 2013

Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker is shooting for back-to-back wins in Saturday's $250,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) at Kensington and he's given Racenet a full account of his trio of runners.

Last year Baker saddled up the quinella in the race when Twilight Royale, a $45,000 purchase defeated Fuerza, a $32,000 purchase.

"We've had a bit of luck with the cheapies. The owners of Twilight Royale were $100,000 in front after this race last year and of course she's shooting for the $2.4 million bonus at Scone (in the Guineas) next year,” Baker said.

"And the three we've got in this Saturday didn't cost an arm and a leg either.”

Baio was $15,000 purchase, Dream Habit set his owners back just $8000 while Catcharainbow is "the silvertail of the group” after she fetched $30,000 at the Inglis sales.

"I would've said Baio will beat Dream Habit home before they worked on Tuesday,” he said.

"There was nothing between them and obviously Dream Habit has come on a lot since his debut at Newcastle when he finished second over 900 metres.

"Baio has freshened up really well since his trip to Melbourne and both his runs have been full of merit. If he hadn't drawn such a wide gate I'd be more confident but the rail almost acts as a dummy or blanket does with infants, they feel safe with it around.”

The trainer warned punters should "totally disregard” Catcharainbow's failure at Scone on debut when she was beaten 6-3/4 lengths over 1000 metres.

"The track was heavy, she missed the start was working and you've just got to put the pen through the run,” he said.

"She was trialling pretty good before that and don't be surprised if she comes or and runs a big race at a good price.”

Of Racenet's stable of bookmakers, Sportsbet and IAS are offering the top price of $4.60 for Baio with Dream Habit's top quote of $7.50 available at Centrebet,Sportingbet and Luxbet.

All the bookies mentioned above will bet you $16 about Catchtherainbow.
