Canterbury breeze ups

A wet track didn’t stop plenty of youngsters smashing through the 11 second mark at today’s breeze ups on the Canterbury course proper.

On a day full of impressive performances, a Not A Single Doubt x Il Sogno colt for Jackson Bloodstock clocked the fastest time of 10.83secs on a Soft 6 track.

The Canterbury breeze ups came three days after a record 130 youngsters breezed at Cranbourne on a Good 4 surface.

Of the combined 226 two-year-olds who breezed over 200m, 76 broke 11 seconds.

All 250 will be offered at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale on October 4.

Inglis managing director Mark Webster was thrilled with the results both at Canterbury and Cranbourne.

“We were very happy with the times on a Soft 6 track here today but we all know it’s not just about the times at the breeze ups,’’ Webster said.

“Plenty of horses weren’t pushed overly hard and the wind came and went throughout the day but the education of the horses and professionalism of everyone involved was very impressive.

“We’re looking forward to getting all of these horses to our Ready2Race Sale now on October 4 in what will be the greatest ever catalogue offered in Australia.’’

The five fastest times at Canterbury today were:

*10.83s - Not A Single Doubt x Il Sogno (Lot 239)
*10.87 - Big Brown x Balbina (Lot 161)
*10.88 - Your Song x Ganda (Lot 226)
*10.90 - Casino Prince x Air She Goes (Lot 145)
*10.93 - Denman x Iltizaam (Lot 240)

A full list of times from the Cranbourne and Canterbury breeze ups is available here.

The videos of the Cranbourne edition are online, while the Canterbury videos will be available on the Inglis website on Monday.

All horses from both breeze ups will be offered at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale at the Newmarket complex in Sydney on Tuesday October 4.

The sale will feature the strongest ever catalogue assembled in Australia.
