Countdown to Classic

2nd Feb 2006

THIS weekend presents the final chance for would-be Inglis Classic contenders to secure
their place in the $500,000 race run at Rosehill Gardens on February 11. With less than three
days until final nominations are made competition is fierce making a watershed of $4,500
prizemoney quite possible.

A stunning effort by Luvuleo (2005 Classic $100,000) at Canterbury on Thursday night
ensured his place in the final lineup. The Galileo colt shot up the prizemoney based order
into race contention after landing the $14,950 first prize for winning Inglis Classic Race Day
11 Feb Plate over 1200m.

His win gives trainer Graeme Rogerson the potential to be fourhanded in the race with his
Jetball filly Up’N’Doing still atop the list, in addition to the recent Kembla winner Adjournment
and Redoute’s Choice colt Grammatical.

Others well up the order of entry and reportedly on course for the race are
Absolutelyfabulous, Strat’s Flyer and Maid Of Antrim, all runners at Rosehill last Saturday with
the former a particularly eyecatching third behind Dubai’s Choice.

Of those in action this weekend look out for John Wallace’s Karalee. The O’Reilly filly
currently stands inside the required prizemoney threshold and takes her place in the
domain.com.au Sprint at Randwick tomorrow alongside Allaboutus who is still bidding for a
place in the Classic field.

In Queensland, Danehill Dancer filly Wide Open is 2006 Classic Race eligible and makes her
debut in the AAPT $49 Homechat QTIS 2YO Handicap at Doomben.

Final nominations for the 2006 $500,000 Inglis Classic should be made as advertised in the
Racing NSW Calendar to the Trainers Service Centre by 11am on Monday, February 6.

The Classic race has an exceptional record for producing class horses:

* 1998 Laurie’s Lottery who won the race at his third start went on to win the Group 1 BTC
Doomben 10,000
* 2001 Subsequent Group winner Fair Embrace defeated True Jewels who at her next start
landed the Group 1 Blue Diamond
* 2002 Dual Group 1 winner Choisir won the race, beating a handy field that included future
Group 1 winners Royal Purler, Pillaging and Half Hennessy and the three-time Group 2
winner Sportsman
* 2004 Commands Nothin’ defeated a field that included talented sprinter Segments and the
eventual Group 1 winner Jymcarew
