Danevade cracks record at $1,050,000

13th Aug 2008

Danevade, the dual Group placed full sister to Shania Dane and Scintillation sold for a Victorian Broodmare record of $1,050,000 at the Inglis August Thoroughbred Sale in Melbourne today.

A late entry into the sale, Danevade (Danehill-Subterfuge, by Machiavellian) was offered by Riverend Park and D’Arcy Thoroughbreds and was purchased by Victorian breeders Morning Rise Stud.

She will now head straight to Coolmore Stud for a mating with Australia’s Champion Sire Encosta De Lago, who has been the stallion of choice for Danevade’s dam Subterfuge and Shania Dane in recent years.

Inglis Director Peter Heagney said the $1.05million price tag was an excellent result for the sale.

“A mare of this calibre is always going to be highly sought after this close to the breeding season and brought a figure that her pedigree demanded,” Heagney said.

Riverend Park and D’Arcy Thoroughbreds also sold the equal second priced lot of the sale, Miswaki mare Manistique, who along with Sweet Valentina, (in foal to God’s Own) made $115,000. Both mares were purchased by Inglis acting as agent on behalf of clients.

Patinack Farm were amongst the action, securing five mares compatible for matings with members of their stallion roster.

Trade for the day’s selling tipped over the $2million mark with a clearance rate of over 85% which was again aided by strong competition from online bidders.

Buyers are reminded of Inglis' post sale service and can make an offer on lots that were passed in at today's sale.

The Inglis August Thoroughbred Sale continues from 11am tomorrow.
