December Thoroughbred Sale

The final William Inglis & Son auction for the year in Melbourne, the December Thoroughbred sale kicks off at 11:00 am on Friday 1st December at Oaklands Junction. A main catalogue comprising of over 110 broodmares, racehorses, yearlings and unbroken stock will give buyers a wide variety to purchase from. While a supplementary catalogue of over 70 horses will be available on sale day from the office.

Stand out lots will include the dual stakes-placed Bianconi (USA) mare, Benko (Lot 81). Offered on behalf of Lindsay Park Stud as agent, the lightly raced mare recently recorded a fast finishing 2nd placing in the Gr 3 MVRC Inglis Mile on W.S. Cox Plate day, behind the impressive Valkyrie Diva. A winner of just under $150,000 in prizemoney, Benko will be much sought after as firstly a race mare and secondly as a broodmare prospect when she retires from the track.

A reduction sale of Sutton Grange Racing will see various race horses on offer including Lot 90, the stakes-placed Smooth Groove. A selection of lightly raced gallopers including the winning Flying Spur mare, Fleeting Love (Lot 82) and Lot 91 the winning Danehill Dancer (IRE) gelding Endless Waltz. Also on offer will be an unraced chestnut filly by Danehill Dancer (IRE), which will go through the ring as Lot 84.

Emirates Park Victoria will offer numerous broodmares in foal to the consistent El Moxie (USA), sire of Champion Hong Kong sprinter Silent Witness. Lot 35, the well-related Secret Savings (USA) mare Kuthbaan, will be offered with an Al Maher foal at foot and has an early September cover by El Moxie (USA). Lot 33, the New Zealand bred Mehtaab (NZ) a half-sister to Savana City, the dam of black-type winners Rose O’ War, Mr Vitality, Gunnamatta and Danehill Express will be another to attract interest. The dam of stakes-placed Winsome Loot, Mehtaab (NZ) will be offered in foal to the son of Sunday Silence (USA), Yasey (JPN), himself a full brother to successful sire Fuji Kiseki (JPN).

Eliza Park Stud will also offer a selection of broodmares in foal, to resident stallions, including Bel Esprit, Delago Brom, Distant Music (USA), Danbird and Rakti (GB). Lot 53, the listed-placed Danehill (USA) mare Danish offers plenty of interest being the dam of 6 to race, all winners. She has a September cover to Royal Academy’s (USA) dual Gr 1 winner Bel Esprit.

A further highlight to the sale will be the numerous mares going through the ring with foals at foot from various sires including El Moxie (USA), Bianconi (USA), Delago Brom and a pair of Danehill’s fine sons in Court Of Jewels (NZ) and Al Maher.
