Grand Performers Star In Group 2 Features

Cox Plate favourite Whobegotyou (pictured) and ageless warrior Racing To Win headlined a string of notable wins for Inglis representatives on a day where two Easter youngsters also indicated big race potential.

WHOBEGOTYOU ($19,500 2007 Classic, 4g Street Cry-Temple Of Peace) confirmed his place at the head of Cox Plate betting when proving too strong for Mic Mac in the G2 Dato Tan Chin Nam Stakes.

With his earnings closing in on the $2million mark, he will arrive at the weight-for-age championship with the perfect record of four wins from as many starts at Moonee Valley.

The Mark Kavanagh trained gelding, who was named Australia's Champion 3YO (Colt or gelding) last season, has endured a frustrating run of bad luck since taking last year's spring carnival by storm, with wins including the G1 Caulfield Guineas.

But all is back on track now, with Kavanagh chasing a repeat win with an Inglis graduate after scoring with Maldivian (Easter) last year.

RACING TO WIN ($40,000 2004 Easter, 7g Encosta De Lago-Surrealist) has also been out of the winning list for some time, but he showed his younger rivals a thing or two today when lumping 61kg in the G2 Theo Marks Stakes.

The John O'Shea trained gelding won this race three years ago and has come back better than ever this campaign, having endured a luckless run first up in the G2 Warwick Stakes. With 13 wins, Racing To Win is knocking on the door of the $4million prizemoney mark.

HOT DANISH ($32,000 2005 Scone, 6m Nothin' Leica Dane-Hot 'n' Breezy) also carried the maximum 61kg impost to land the G3 Research Stakes.

Widely regarded as the best horse in Australia not to have won at Group 1 level, Hot Danish is the winner of 11 races in 18 starts and today's win took her earnings beyond the $1million mark.

READY TO LIFT (P$90,000 2005 Easter, $120,000 2005 Ready To Run, 6m More Than Ready-On The Rise) completed a race-to-race Easter stakes treble when rediscovering her best form under 58kg in the G3 Kingston Town Stakes.

After being passed in at the Easter sale, Gerald Ryan purchased the mare from the 2005 Inglis Ready To Run Sale and she has proven an outstanding purchase.

In addition to her near $600,000 in earnings, the daughter of in demand stallion More Than Ready is now the winner of five stakes races, making her a valuable broodmare prospect.

Meanwhile, the Inglis assault on spring three-year-old features gathered further momentum through the feats of Rothesay and Sister Madly at Rosehill.

Already, the likes of dual stakes stakes winners Black Caviar, Carrara and Starspangledbanner have flown the flag in Melbourne and today's winners look more than capable of doing the same in Sydney.

Gerald Ryan's lofty opinion of ROTHESAY (P$140,000 2008 Easter, 3c Fastnet Rock-Schiaparelli) shows no signs of abating, with the colt finishing powerfully to maintain his unbeaten tag in the Myboycharlie Handicap.

Offered for sale by Phillipa Duncan Bloodstock, Rothesay suffered a minor setback after accounting for subsequent G1 placed Stryker and G3 winner Rarefied in July.

But Ryan has him back on target and he is sure to make his presence felt in Group company when he next steps out.

SISTER MADLY (P$775,000 2008 Easter, 3f Redoute's Choice-Jade Tiara) lived up to her outstanding debut and showed she had inherited plenty of the family ability when landing the Myer Handicap (1200m).

Sister Madly is a half-sister to Hong Kong legend Silent Witness and like that $55,000 Inglis Classic graduate, was bred by Edinburgh Park's Ian Smith.

Trainer Anthony Cummings is certain to test her in better races now.

Another Easter graduate to win at Rosehill was POWER TO SURPRISE ($180,000 2006 Easter, 5g Viking Ruler-Arboretum), who staged a bold front running display to win over 2000m.
